Udny Station Window Mastic
Our applicators work in Udny Station on mastic around window and door frames, sills and patio doors. Old sealant removed completely, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.
- Draughty joints inside around the window
- Black, perished sealant on frames
- Rain getting in at the frame or under the sill
Window mastic for homes and businesses in Udny Station
From a single sill to a whole house of windows, the work is priced before anything is done. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us how many frames there are and how they’re reached. If you are dealing with black, perished sealant on frames and sealant in the wrong colour for the frame, we can help.
Many older Scottish homes still have timber windows set into stone walls. The sealant has to suit the stone, which rules out acetoxy silicones that can mark or attack it.
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, whatever its size.

How we quote for window mastic
Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- Any mould that needs treating
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you an honest view and a quote.
What we need to know
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:
- How we’d reach the joints
- Where the property is
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
For a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. We’ll give you a clear price before any work starts.
DIY versus a professional finish
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
What we cannot put right
Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we will tell you before we start. Sealant will not put right:
- Misting between the panes of a double-glazed unit (that needs a new unit)
- Damp problems in the wall away from the window
- Worn gaskets, brush seals or a door that has dropped
Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly.

Questions from Udny Station
Is there a guarantee on window mastic in Udny Station?
Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Is Udny Station within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Can you reach windows above the ground floor?
Yes, where they can be reached safely. Tell us about access when you get in touch so we can plan the job.
Do you seal inside as well as outside?
Yes. The outside joint keeps the weather out, and the inside joint stops draughts and finishes the reveal. We do one or both.
Will there be a smell?
That depends on the sealant. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little, and any smell fades as they cure.
Should I try DIY first?
Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.
Does someone need to be in?
It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access, and for outside work we will agree access with you when we book.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. Full insurance covers our work, and we can confirm the details when we quote.
Windows and doors in Udny Station
Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and sound outside sealant is part of that. Many older homes in Scotland have sash and case windows, often pointed into the wall with traditional sand mastic.
Around Udny Station, as everywhere, window mastic is only as good as the preparation behind it. Whether the job is in Udny Station itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

How the job changes by surface
Composite doors
If the door itself is draughty, the issue may be the door seals or hinges rather than the frame mastic. We will tell you if that’s what we find.
Aluminium frames
Aluminium moves with heat, and the frames are often slimmer than uPVC. A tidy bead in anthracite grey, black or a matching colour suits the frame.
Why it’s worth doing now in Udny Station
Choosing the product is half the job. Decorators’ caulk and bathroom silicone are not designed for outside joints that move. An exterior, low-modulus sealant stays flexible in sun and frost. In a place like Udny Station, small leaks are easy to put off, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.
The cost depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.

What we do, step by step
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The work itself takes a morning for a couple of windows and a door. Around Udny Station, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.
- We start by checking each window and door with you.
- We remove the old mastic and clean the frame and the wall.
- Deep gaps are filled with backing rod to set the depth.
- New exterior sealant goes on in a matching colour and is tooled smooth.
- Finally we tidy up and check each joint.
How to prepare
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
