Window mastic in Eversley, done properly

Colour matters on a frame. White, brown, anthracite grey, black and clear sealants are all available, so the line suits the frame instead of standing out. If you’re dealing with sealant in the wrong colour for the frame and gaps between the frame and the inside reveal, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

Homes in small places like Eversley often stand in the open, with little to shelter their windows from wind and rain. Exposed frames and sills lose their mastic sooner than sheltered ones.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

Honest limits

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:

  • A frame that has rotted at the joint
  • A sash or casement that will not close properly
  • A failed sealed unit that has misted up

Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Landlord and commercial work in Eversley

In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we’ll give you a quote.

What affects the quote in Eversley

We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:

  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • The product the joint needs
  • The size of the job
  • Any mould that needs treating

A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

Asking for a quote

When you call or email, it’s useful to know:

  • The rough size of the job
  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Where the property is

The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints.

What the job involves on each surface

Timber windows & doors

Wood swells when it’s wet and shrinks when it dries, so a flexible sealant is essential. The paint or stain needs to be sound where the sealant meets it.

Aluminium frames

Large aluminium doors have long joints down each side and across the head, and the threshold joint takes a lot of water. We prepare and reseal every joint, backing the deep ones.

DIY versus a professional finish

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Eversley homes and the weather

With historic houses such as Stratfield Saye House (about 4.7 miles west) nearby, there’s older building stock in the area around Eversley as well as newer homes. Where a home is older, older frames set in brick or stone need a sealant that suits them, and sometimes that is traditional sand mastic. Compared with the north and west, the South East gets less rain, though outdoor sealant still has to go onto a dry joint, so the forecast decides the day.

Letting a property close to Crowthorne station? Then renewing tired window mastic between tenants heads off draught and damp complaints. In the older streets around Church of St Mary, the joint between an old wall and a newer frame is normally the first place rain gets in. If you look after a building such as Charles Kingsley's Church of England Primary School, its window and door frames need their mastic kept sound, just like a home’s.

Questions from Eversley

Will you come out to Eversley?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

I let a flat near Crowthorne station. Can you help?

Yes. We work for letting agents and landlords as well as homeowners. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.

Where are you based?

Our base is in Crawley, West Sussex, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.

Will it make a mess?

Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we tidy up before we go.

Can you do the inside joint as well?

Yes. The outside joint keeps the weather out, and the inside joint stops draughts and finishes the reveal. We can do either or both.

Is there any odour?

Sometimes, a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.

Do you work on first-floor windows?

Yes, where it’s safe. For high or awkward windows, we’ll tell you what access is needed.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:

  • Keep jet washers away from the mastic
  • Paint up to the joint, not over it
  • Wash the frames with mild soapy water
  • Ventilate rooms so frames do not stay wet inside

Keep sill grooves and drainage slots clear, so rain drains out rather than building up at the sealant.

Water gets in quietly when mastic fails. You might not see it until plaster blows or a damp patch appears inside. Catching it early keeps the fix to a reseal.

What we do, step by step

We keep the work tidy and contained to the area we’re working on, so you can carry on as normal. Expect the work to take a few hours for a handful of frames, longer for a whole house, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. Somewhere as small as Eversley, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. First we look at every frame and agree the list.
  2. The old mastic is cut out and the surfaces cleaned back.
  3. Deep gaps are filled with backing rod to set the depth.
  4. New exterior sealant goes on in a matching colour and is tooled smooth.
  5. Every joint is checked before we leave.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before
  • Mention any tricky access
