Remedial sealant & repairs in Portmore, Hampshire
Removing failed, mouldy or leaking sealant and putting it right for homes and businesses in Portmore and across Hampshire. ARBOMaster approved applicators, fully insured, with a 12-month guarantee.
- Repeat leaks from the same joint
- Worktop sealant that has shrunk and split
- Dark patches showing through the sealant
Common problems we fix in Portmore
Water from somewhere else can ruin a good seal. A slow leak behind the tiles soaks the joint from the back, so the silicone goes mouldy or lets go.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Black mould underneath the bead
- Caulk or the wrong sealant used in a wet area
- Floor or wall movement joints that have failed
- Beads that never stuck properly
Rented homes near Lymington Town station change hands often, and failed or mouldy sealant is worth putting right between tenancies, before it turns into a leak.

Remedial sealant in Portmore, done properly
Removing failed sealant is the hardest part of the job. Every layer is cut out, the residue cleaned off and the joint degreased, taking care not to scratch the surfaces around it. Only then can new sealant bond. We work on failed movement joints, shrunken worktop sealant and mouldy bath & shower sealant, and the jobs we see most are black mould underneath the bead and decorators’ caulk around a bath or shower.
Being in a small place like Portmore makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.
Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Portmore and across Hampshire.

Common questions in Portmore
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Lymington Town station?
Yes, we work for landlords and agents. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the property, and we will send you a clear quote.
Do you take on hotel work around Portmore?
Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.
Can you fix a reseal that hasn’t worked?
Yes, normally. First we check whether the leak is the sealant at all, then strip and reseal the joints.
Are you insured?
Yes, we’re fully insured.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is usually more efficient.
Should I try DIY first?
It depends on the job. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.
Is it messy?
We keep the work tidy. Nearby surfaces are protected, and the area is left clean when we finish.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

What we need to know
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- The address or postcode of the job
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- If someone has resealed it before
We quote each job on its own, so the first step is telling us about yours. Simply phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and describe the job.

What remedial sealant looks like in Portmore
Portmore is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Portmore has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room.
Schools such as Southlands School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. In the older streets around Saint Nicholas Chapel, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

Why deal with it now?
A joint that has failed twice will fail again unless the cause is dealt with. Finding it, whether movement, water from elsewhere or an unsuitable product, ends the cycle. Older cottages and farmhouses around Portmore can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

What we do, step by step
We bring everything the job needs with us, so there’s nothing for you to buy. Once we’ve agreed what’s being done, the area is protected and the work begins. Most jobs take a few hours for a typical bath or shower, longer where several layers have been applied. Somewhere like Portmore needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- We protect the surfaces around the joint.
- Every layer of failed sealant is stripped out.
- The joint is degreased and checked for movement and leaks.
- New sealant goes in once the joint is dry, and is tooled smooth.
- We give you the cure time and explain what caused the failure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Advice
Should I try it myself first?
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
How the job changes by surface
Mouldy bath & shower sealant
Mould often spreads under the bead as well as through it. Once it’s all removed, the joint is treated so the new sealant starts clean.
Worktops & kitchens
Shrunken worktop sealant leaves a gap that lets water into the back edge. It’s cut out, degreased and resealed.
