Just mention the colour you’d like when you phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email. If you have crumbling grout between the tiles and good tiles let down by tired grout, we can put it right.

Regrouting around Woolton Hill

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you look after a building such as Woolton Hill Junior School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. If you let a flat or house near Newbury station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

What happens on the day

Once we are on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Somewhere like Woolton Hill needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
  2. The old grout is removed to an even depth.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Signs you need regrouting in Woolton Hill

Soap scum and limescale build up on grout that is hard to shift. In time the grout under it darkens and breaks down, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Crumbling grout between the tiles
  • Floor grout that has worn and darkened
  • Gaps where the shower grout has gone
  • Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles

In the older streets around Church of St Thomas, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Your questions about regrouting in Woolton Hill

Will you come out to Woolton Hill?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Newbury station?

Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. Just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Will it make a mess?

Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.

What guarantee comes with the work?

You get our 12-month guarantee on every job, and we are fully insured.

How much does regrouting cost in Woolton Hill?

The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.

What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?

Corners get silicone, not grout. They move slightly and grout cannot take that movement.

What do you put in the joint?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.

Is regrouting a chance to pick a new grout colour?

Yes. Because the old grout is raked out, the new colour goes all the way into the joint rather than sitting on top.

How the job changes by surface

Bathroom floors

Floor grout takes foot traffic as well as water. It wears and darkens over time.

Bathroom wall tiles

Grout by the basin and bath tends to mark first. We can regroute just those areas or the whole wall.

When it isn’t the sealant

Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant will not put right:

  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
  • A leaking shower valve or waste

If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think.

What we seal

  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Tiled floors
  • Shower walls
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom floors

Keeping the joints in good condition

How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
  • Have loose tiles looked at early
  • Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner

A squeegee or cloth over the tiles after use keeps water off the grout. Run the extractor fan or open a window to help it dry out.

Cracked grout does not stay cracked for long. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again.

What happens if it’s left?

Cracked grout lets water behind the tiles. Left alone, that water can loosen tiles or damage the wall, which turns a regrout into a retile. Sorting it early keeps the job simple. Around Woolton Hill, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.
