Regrouting for homes and businesses in Woodham Walter

If you’ve been scrubbing grout that won’t come clean, the stain is often in the grout itself. Replacing it is the lasting answer and you can pick a different colour while you’re at it. We are often asked to deal with shower grout that has worn away and floor grout that won’t come clean, on kitchen splashbacks, tiled floors and shower walls.

For a small place like Woodham Walter, regrouting is planned like any other job: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

What affects the cost of regrouting

You’ll get a clear quote before any work starts. It’s based on:

  • Any mould that needs treating
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • How much there is to do
  • Access and height

Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

What to tell us for a quote

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:

  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email

The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints.

Honest limits

We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:

  • Tiles that are chipped or split
  • A floor or wall that keeps moving
  • Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling

If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we seal

  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Bathroom floors
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Shower walls
  • Tiled floors
  • Wet rooms

What the job involves on each surface

Shower walls

The grout in a shower takes the brunt of the water. We rake it out and regrout and renew the silicone at the edges.

Kitchen splashbacks

The grout by the hob and sink takes most of the mess. We regroute and reseal the worktop joint.

Can I do it myself?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.

Do you need regrouting in Woodham Walter?

Grout that was put in corners cracks because those joints flex. Those joints should be silicone, and if they’re grouted, a crack soon lets water in.

The most common problems we see are:

  • Grout that makes sound tiles look old
  • Old grout in a dated colour
  • Gaps where the shower grout has gone
  • Grout in corners that has cracked

Rented homes near Hatfield Peverel station change hands often, and clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

Questions from Woodham Walter

Do you cover smaller places like Woodham Walter?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Hatfield Peverel station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can be quoted together. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.

Should I try DIY first?

It depends on the job. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.

Where do you work from?

Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. We cover Woodham Walter and the rest of Essex.

Will regrouting fix loose tiles?

If tiles are loose, something behind them has normally failed. Grout on its own won’t fix that and we will say so before going ahead.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done and we will quote it together.

How long does the job take?

It depends on the size of the job, but as a guide it takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. We’ll tell you when we quote.

Will you leave a mess?

We keep the work tidy. We protect what’s around the joints, and the area is left clean when we finish.

What regrouting looks like in Woodham Walter

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Homes close to Church of St Michael include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

For a village or hamlet like Woodham Walter, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
