Regrouting near Westbere

How the job changes by surface

Bathroom floors

Regrouting a floor brightens the whole room. The edges where floor meets wall or bath get silicone.

Shower walls

Shower walls get wet every day, so its grout takes the most punishment. It usually fails first.

How we handle regrouting in Westbere

When grout stays dark however much you clean it, the stain is often in the grout itself. Replacing it is the lasting answer and you can pick a different colour while you’re at it. Common call-outs are for corners filled with grout instead of silicone and stained grout that cleaning won’t shift, on wet rooms, bathroom wall tiles and kitchen splashbacks.

Being in a small place like Westbere makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

When to call us in Westbere

When tiles or the wall behind them move, the grout cracks. That can be a loose tile, a flexing floor or a stud wall, which is why we check the tiles first.

Common reasons people contact us include:

  • Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
  • Good tiles let down by tired grout
  • Stained grout that cleaning won’t shift
  • Cracked grout along the bath or tray

Rented homes near Sturry station change hands often, and stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

10 questions to ask before booking

Your questions about regrouting in Westbere

Do you cover Westbere for regrouting?

Yes, Westbere is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear price.

Will you come out to Westbere?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Do I have to be there?

For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Do you guarantee regrouting?

Our 12-month guarantee covers every job, including regrouting.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Will regrouting fix loose tiles?

Tiles that have come away need sorting first. We will show you which ones before any grout comes out.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

Normally we do both. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so we renew both and include it in your quote.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

Our base is in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Should I try it myself first?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly.

How to look after the new joints

Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:

  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly
  • Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
  • Skip wire brushes and scourers

Wipe the tiles down after a shower stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Run the extractor fan or open a window so the grout dries between uses.

Grout that is washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps, and that water can reach the wall or the floor below.

What regrouting looks like in Westbere

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of All Saints, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Schools such as Spires Academy are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

What we do, step by step

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself usually takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room, depending on the size of the job. For a village or hamlet like Westbere, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

Before we arrive
