Your questions about regrouting in Wargrave
I let a flat near Wargrave station. Can you help?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners, and several properties can go on one quote. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details for a clear quote.
Will you come out to Wargrave?
Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
How long should I wait before showering?
You will get a clear time from us before we go. The grout and sealant both need to cure before the shower is used.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We’re ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. It all has to come out first.
Can you regrout just the shower?
Yes, that’s common. The shower usually fails first, so many people regrout just that part.
Do the sealants smell?
Some sealants have a smell while they cure, but it fades. Opening a window helps.
Where are you based?
Our base is Crawley. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.
Regrouting in Wargrave
Before we start, the tiles are checked. Loose or hollow tiles are pointed out first, because regrouting won’t fix what’s behind them. With sound tiles, regrouting is a tidy, lasting improvement. We work on bathroom floors, shower walls and wet rooms, and common reasons people get in touch are cracked or crumbling grout lines and grout in a colour the owner wants to change.
Homes around Wargrave range from older cottages to more recent houses. Older homes can move a little with the seasons, which is hard on tired sealant and rigid grout.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once the job is done.

DIY sealant or a professional job?
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
The process
A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, carry out the job and tidy away. Most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Parking around Wargrave is generally easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- Dust is cleared from every joint.
- The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Clear the area around the work

Advice
What happens if it’s left?
Patching a few joints can look like a quick win, but the patches often don’t match, and the old grout keeps failing around them. Doing the full area gives you one colour and sound joints throughout. In a smaller place like Wargrave, wherever a wall is exposed, a failed outside joint is a real source of damp. Inside, a split seal lets water into floors and panels just as it would anywhere.
No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

Surface by surface
Kitchen splashbacks
We can regroute a splashback with the kitchen left in place. The joint along the worktop is resealed with silicone.
Bathroom wall tiles
Walls outside the shower get less water but still stain and crack. Regrouting brings them back in line.
Keeping the joints in good condition
A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
- Check the corner silicone every few months
- Do not ignore a tile that feels loose
A squeegee or cloth over the tiles after use keeps water off the grout. Ventilate the room well so the grout dries between uses.
Small problems with grout are quick to put right. Left, the same problem can let water through, so get it looked at when you notice it.
Wargrave homes and their sealant
Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
Managing a site like Robert Piggott CofE Infant School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Letting a property close to Wargrave station? How we quote for regrouting
There’s no set price list. What we look at:
- How many areas need sealing
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- Which sealant suits the joint
- The number and length of the joints
A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
Asking for a quote
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- The type of property
- If someone has resealed it before
- The address or postcode of the job
Asking for a quote is easy: let us know the job and the location, and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help us understand the job, and we’ll take it from there.
