Trusted regrouting in The Flints

Regrouting for homes and businesses in The Flints

Across The Flints, we regrout tiled showers, bathrooms and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, finished with new silicone at the edges. We’re often asked to deal with discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles and grout in corners that has cracked, across bathroom floors, shower walls and tiled floors.

Homes around The Flints are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

All our work is covered by our 12-month guarantee, wherever you are in Hertfordshire.

The Flints questions

Do you cover smaller places like The Flints?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Is The Flints in your area for regrouting?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and The Flints is part of that. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. More than one area can be quoted together.

Do the sealants smell?

There can be a smell while the sealant cures. Opening a window helps.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We’re fully insured.

Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?

If tiles are loose, something behind them has normally failed. Regrouting alone is not the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start.

What guarantee comes with the work?

There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job.

Do I need to be at home?

It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.

The process

When we get to you, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. In a small place like The Flints, access is normally the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Aftercare tips

Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly
  • Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
  • Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout

Give the new grout the time we tell you before using the shower, so it can harden properly. From then on, a quick rinse after showering helps and let the room air.

Grout that stays dark after cleaning is starting to fail. Regrouting at this stage is straightforward, before the joints open up.

Regrouting in The Flints: local notes

Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Managing a site like Offley Endowed Primary School? Then its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. Rented homes near Luton station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. In the older streets around Church of St Mary Magdalene, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

How we quote for regrouting

There’s no set price list. What we look at:

  • The size of the job
  • Whether the work is at height
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • The old material and how stubborn it is

Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller. If you’re unsure, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

What to tell us for a quote

To make quoting easier, please include:

  • If someone has resealed it before
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email

We quote each job on its own, so the first step is telling us about yours. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with the details, and photos are welcome.

Should I try it myself first?

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

When it is not the sealant

We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so here’s what sealant can’t put right:

  • Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind

If you are not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Different surfaces, different methods

Corners and edges

Where tiles meet a bath, tray or worktop, the joint is sealed. Grout there would crack.

Bathroom wall tiles

Grout by the basin and bath tends to mark first. We can do part of a wall or all of it.

Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance.
