How we handle regrouting in The Brents

When grout stays dark however much you clean it, the stain is often in the grout itself. New grout is the fix that lasts and you can pick a different colour while you’re at it. If you have grout that makes sound tiles look old and stained grout that cleaning won’t shift, we can put it right, on kitchen splashbacks, bathroom wall tiles and shower walls alike.

Even in a smaller place like The Brents, bathrooms and kitchens see heavy daily use. Whether it’s a cottage bathroom or a newer en suite, the approach is the same: all the old material out, the joint cleaned and dried, then new sealant or grout.

Every job is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Keeping the joints in good condition

Aftercare is simple:

  • Rinse the tiles after showering
  • Have loose tiles looked at early
  • Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
  • Use gentle cleaners on grout

If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. Movement will crack the new grout and open a path for water.

Grout that is washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Each shower drives water into the open joints and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

The process

We bring everything the job needs with us, so there’s nothing for you to buy. Once we’ve agreed what’s being done, the area is protected and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Parking around The Brents is generally easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area around the work
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks

Regrouting around The Brents

The Brents is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. The Brents has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room.

If you live in an older home near Faversham Parish Church, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Managing a site like Davington Primary School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

The Brents is about 1 mile north-east of Faversham, in Kent. The Brents gets the same service as everywhere we cover: old sealant removed completely, careful preparation and a one-year guarantee. The Brents is one of 922 places in Kent where we work. We also work in Chelmsford, around 34 miles away.

Our applicators cover all of the ME13 postcode area for regrouting and the streets around it. We cover properties on Ham Road, Back Lane and Quay Lane and the roads around them. Close by, we work in Davington (1 mile west), Faversham (1 mile south-west), Preston (1 mile south), Oare (1 mile north-west) and Ospringe (1 mile south-west). Within a short drive, we also cover Ashford (12 miles south), Canterbury (9 miles east), Sittingbourne (7 miles west), Whitstable (6 miles east), Herne Bay (11 miles east) and Minster (8 miles north-west).

Local landmarks in The Brents

Typical jobs here are in homes near The Brents Tavern, Oare Meadow and Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School. The Brents’s nearest station is Faversham station, roughly 0.6 miles south of the centre. A little further out are Newnham Castle (4.6 miles south-west).

Common problems we fix in The Brents

Hard water and soap leave a film on grout that’s hard to shift. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, which is when replacing it makes sense.

Common reasons people contact us include:

  • Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
  • Grout that is cracking and breaking up
  • A grout colour that no longer suits the room
  • Greasy, stained grout behind the hob

Rented homes near Faversham station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

What to look for in a quote

  • How hidden problems are handled
  • Are they insured?
  • Is the old sealant removed completely?

FAQs for The Brents

Will you come out to The Brents?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Do you take on hotel work around The Brents?

Yes. Hotel and guest-house work is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.

Can I do it myself?

It depends on the job. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

What does regrouting cost?

It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. To get one, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and let us know what needs doing and where.

Do you regrout part of a bathroom, like the shower?

Yes. We’ll look at the rest of the room too and let you know if more needs doing.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

What do you put in the joint?

It depends on the joint: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.

Honest limits

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
  • Damaged tiles that need replacing
  • Movement in a stud wall or floor

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we seal

  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Bathroom floors
  • Tiled floors
  • Shower walls

Different surfaces, different methods

Bathroom floors

Cracked floor grout can point to movement underneath. We check the tiles before regrouting.

Corners and edges

Internal corners move, so they get silicone, not grout.

DIY versus a professional finish

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

What affects the quote in The Brents

Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:

  • Any mould that needs treating
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • The type of sealant required
  • The old material and how stubborn it is

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

What to tell us for a quote

To help us quote quickly, please include:

  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • The rough size of the job
