Regrouting in North Halling

Our applicators work in North Halling on raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and every job guaranteed for a year.

  • Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
  • Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
  • Grout in corners that has cracked

Regrouting for North Halling homes and businesses

Leave it or put it right?

It’s tempting to fill a few cracks yourself, but patched grout rarely matches the rest and the old grout carries on failing. Doing the full area gives you one colour and sound joints throughout. Older cottages and farmhouses around North Halling can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

Why us?

  • A 12-month guarantee on all work
  • Homes, businesses and hotels
  • Rated 4.9 stars on Google
  • 20+ years of sealant experience

Regrouting in North Halling, done properly

Changing the grout colour is a simple way to update tiles. You might go from white to grey, or the other way round. Tell us what you have in mind when you ask for a quote. Common call-outs are for grout that makes sound tiles look old and grout in corners that has cracked, across bathroom floors, shower walls and wet rooms.

Around North Halling, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

A 12-month guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Common problems we fix in North Halling

A bathroom that stays damp keeps the grout wet, giving mould a place to grow. When black spots keep returning, the mould has normally got into the grout.

People generally contact us after spotting one of these:

  • Grout washed out of a shower
  • Cracked or crumbling grout lines
  • Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
  • Grout in corners that has cracked

If you live in an older home near Church of St Michael and All Angels, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

What to look for in a quote

  • When the joint can take water or movement
  • The length of the guarantee
  • Whether VAT is included
  • Which colour the sealant will be

Our hiring checklist

North Halling: your questions answered

Will you come out to North Halling?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Is North Halling in your area for regrouting?

Yes. We work across London and the South East, and North Halling is part of that. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear quote.

What should I tell you?

Tell us what needs doing and where, plus pictures if you have them. We’ll ask anything else we need to know.

Where are you based?

Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. We cover North Halling and the rest of Medway, along with the rest of our area.

Can I do it myself?

You can, for simple jobs. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us.

When can I use the shower again?

The wait depends on the materials and how warm the room is. We’ll give you a time to follow when the job is done.

Can you regrout just the shower?

Yes. Many jobs are just the shower walls, or just the joints that have failed.

What we cannot put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:

  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • Movement in a stud wall or floor
  • Damaged tiles that need replacing

If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we seal

  • Tiled floors
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Shower walls
  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom floors
  • Kitchen splashbacks

Should I try it myself first?

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is.

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.

Bathrooms and kitchens in North Halling

Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

For landlords with property near Cuxton station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Cuxton Community Infant School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

How we quote for regrouting

Jobs vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:

  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • The type of sealant required
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove

What it costs depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. We give a clear quote before work begins.

Helping us quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • How we’d reach the joints
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel

If you’re in North Halling and need regrouting, call 0345 464 0079 or email us. Tell us what the problem is and where, and you’ll get a clear quote before work begins.

How it works

A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, carry out the job and clear up. Most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. In a small place like North Halling, access is usually the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
  2. Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
  3. The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
  4. New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
  5. The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear items away from the joints we are working on
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
  • Tell us if parking is tricky

Keeping the joints in good condition

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:

  • Don’t ignore a tile that feels loose
  • Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
  • Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then

Have any tile that moves checked right away. Movement will crack the new grout and open a path for water.

Cracked grout doesn’t stay cracked for long. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.
