Norcot Regrouting
Tiled areas in Norcot need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
- Floor grout that won’t come clean
- Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
Regrouting for homes and businesses in Norcot
When grout stays dark however much you clean it, the discolouration has normally soaked into the grout. Replacing it is the lasting answer, and it’s a chance to change the colour too. We are often asked to deal with floor grout that has worn and darkened and discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles, on bathroom wall tiles, kitchen splashbacks and tiled floors.
Homes around Norcot range from older cottages to more recent houses. In older homes, walls and floors can move a little more, so the right flexible sealant matters.
Your job is guaranteed for a year, as with all our work.

Regrouting around Norcot
Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
If you live in an older home near Tilehurst Methodist Church, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. If you let a flat or house near Tilehurst station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.
Norcot is about 2 miles west of Reading, in Reading. Wherever you are in the RG30 postcode area, we cover regrouting for homes and businesses. Norcot is one of 34 towns and villages in Reading where we work for regrouting.
We work across RG30 and RG31 for regrouting and the streets around it. We cover properties on Ash Road, Tay Road and Tyle Road and the roads around them. Close by, we work in Tilehurst Within (1 mile south-west), Tilehurst (1 mile west), Horncastle (1 mile south), Little Heath (1 mile west) and Fords Farm (1 mile south). Larger places within reach include Caversham (3 miles north-east), Shinfield (5 miles south-east), Arborfield Garrison (8 miles south-east), Whitley Wood (4 miles south-east), Sonning Common (4 miles north-east) and Whitley (4 miles south-east). How the job changes by surface
Kitchen splashbacks
Splashback grout picks up grease and cooking stains. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.
Bathroom wall tiles
Splash areas around basins and baths stain first. We can regroute just those areas or the whole wall.
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements and we’ll quote.
We also work for property managers and facilities teams. Several sites can be quoted together, and we are fully insured.
When something else is needed
New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t solve:
- Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Why deal with it now?
Cracked grout lets water behind the tiles. Leave it, and the adhesive or the wall behind can suffer, which turns a regrout into a retile. Dealing with it now keeps it small. In an older home around Norcot, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the sealant itself.
Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

DIY versus a professional finish
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, then guaranteed for a year.
When to call us in Norcot
Soap scum and limescale build up on grout that is hard to shift. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Grout in corners that has cracked
If you look after a building such as Meadow Park Academy, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
Questions to ask before booking
- Which sealant they’ll use, and why
- What the cure time is
- Is VAT in the price?
- What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
Common questions in Norcot
Can you do regrouting in Norcot?
Yes, Norcot is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.
Do you cover smaller places like Norcot?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Should corners be grouted or sealed?
Flexible sealant. Grout belongs between the tiles and moving joints need sealant.
Which products do you use?
It depends on the joint: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
Loose or hollow tiles are a sign of a problem behind them. Grout on its own won’t fix that and we will say so before going ahead.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before resealing.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status.
The process
Our applicators work methodically: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. Typically it takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room and we leave things clean and tidy. A visit to Norcot is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
Getting ready for the visit
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- Mention any tricky access
