Regrouting in Jockey End
Grout is the filler between your tiles, while sealant goes where tiles meet a bath, tray or worktop. When grout cracks or washes out, water can get in behind the tiles. Our job is to rake it out and put new grout in and renew the silicone at the edges. We work on tiled floors, bathroom wall tiles and shower walls, and common reasons people get in touch are discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles and corners filled with grout instead of silicone.
Being in a small place like Jockey End makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, large or small.

Your questions about regrouting in Jockey End
Is Jockey End in your area for regrouting?
Yes, Jockey End is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job, and we will send you a clear quote.
Do you work for landlords with property near Berkhamsted station?
Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear quote.
Will it make a mess?
Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, we’re fully insured for every job we do.
Do you grout the corners?
Internal corners and edges are sealed with flexible silicone. Grout in those joints cracks as the building moves.
Which products do you use?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice, and we will tell you what we’re using.
Should I try DIY first?
It depends on the job. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. If you can, email a few photos.

The process
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The work itself takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area from start to finish. Somewhere like Jockey End needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- We start by checking the tiles for any that are loose or hollow.
- The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
- We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
- We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
Before we arrive
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
- Keep children and pets away from the work area

Honest limits
To be straight with you, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- A leaking shower valve or waste
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you honestly.
Surfaces we seal
- Bathroom floors
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Shower walls
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Wet rooms
- Tiled floors
Should I try it myself first?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Regrouting in Jockey End: local notes
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Signs you need regrouting in Jockey End
Poor ventilation keeps grout damp, and damp grout is where mould grows. Black marks that come back after cleaning are often in the grout itself.
Any of these means the joints need attention:
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
- Good tiles let down by tired grout
Rented homes near Berkhamsted station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

Looking after it afterwards
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
- Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
Wipe the tiles down after a shower stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Ventilate the room well so the grout dries between uses.
Fixing grout early is a small job. Left, the same problem can let water through so it’s worth dealing with as soon as you spot it.

What affects the quote in Jockey End
We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:
- The number and length of the joints
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
Helping us quote
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:
- The problem you’ve noticed
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- The address or postcode of the job
Asking for a quote is easy: let us know the job and the location. A few photos by email make the job easier to understand, and we will take it from there.
