Hestingott Regrouting
Regrouting for Hestingott and the surrounding area: careful preparation, the right product and tidy work. Ask us for a quick quote.
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
Regrouting in Hestingott, done properly
Our applicators rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care not to chip the tile edges. The joints are then vacuumed, regrouted and cleaned off, with silicone renewed in the corners. Typical jobs include cracked grout along the bath or tray and grout stained black or orange that won’t clean, across bathroom floors, kitchen splashbacks and bathroom wall tiles.
Being further from a city does not change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, large or small.

Common questions in Hestingott
Do you cover smaller places like Hestingott?
Yes, Hestingott is covered. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, islands included, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Hestingott?
All our work, in Hestingott and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured, and we have been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
What do you put in the joint?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
If tiles are loose, something behind them has usually failed. Grout on its own won’t fix that, and we’ll tell you before we start.
Is it messy?
No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
Our base is Crawley, with over 20 years’ experience. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.
What affects the cost of regrouting
You’ll get a clear quote before work begins. It’s based on:
- The amount of work
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- The type of sealant required
- Working hours on commercial sites
There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
What we need to know
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- Whether it’s a home or a business
We quote each job on its own, so the first step is telling us about yours. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details, and photos are welcome.
Keeping the joints in good condition
After the cure time, these simple habits help:
- Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
- Don’t use strong acidic cleaners on grout
- Use gentle cleaners on grout
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
Have any tile that moves checked right away. Movement will crack the new grout and lets water in.
Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.
What the job involves on each surface
Corners and edges
Internal corners move, so they get silicone, not grout.
Bathroom floors
If floor grout keeps cracking, the floor may be moving. We check the tiles before regrouting.
What regrouting looks like in Hestingott
Hestingott is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Work on the islands has to be planned around ferry crossings and the weather, so give us as much notice as you can.
In and around Hestingott, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint. Homes close to Cross Kirk include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
Hestingott is in the Shetland Islands. From the centre of Hestingott to the outskirts, we cover regrouting for every kind of property, from flats and houses to offices and hotels. Our the Shetland Islands coverage runs to 63 places, and Hestingott is one of them.
Postcode districts we cover here for regrouting: ZE3. If you need regrouting at a property on Thistle Court and Ninian Drive or anywhere close by, we can help. If you are just outside Hestingott, we cover Toab (1 mile south-east), Exnaboe (1 mile east), Scatness (1 mile south), Boddam (2 miles north) and South Scousburgh (3 miles north). For island and remote addresses, a little more planning is needed.

Landlord and commercial work in Hestingott
A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.
Letting agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements and we will give you a quote.

Honest limits
A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:
- A structure that flexes behind the tiles
- A leaking wet room membrane
- A leaking shower valve or waste
If in doubt, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think.

Should I try it myself first?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
How it works
You don’t need to clear the whole room or building, just the space around the work. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area for a typical job. Somewhere like Hestingott may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
- We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
- New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
