Why it’s worth doing now in Glen Moriston

Once grout cracks, water can get behind the tiling. Left alone, that water can loosen tiles or damage the wall, and then you are looking at retiling. Sorting it early keeps the job simple. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part.

Why book with us

  • Full insurance on every job
  • Every job guaranteed for a year
  • Old sealant always removed completely
  • Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet

Regrouting in Glen Moriston, done properly

Stained, crumbling or cracked grout can make a sound bathroom look tired. With regrouting, the tiles stay and only the grout is renewed, so nothing is ripped out. Common call-outs are for grout washed out of a shower and grout that’s cracking and breaking up, on tiled floors, wet rooms and bathroom floors.

In and around a place like Glen Moriston, homes range from older stone-built properties to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are usually the first signs.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

What regrouting looks like in Glen Moriston

Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.

Whether the job is in Glen Moriston itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

Glen Moriston is about 30 miles south-west of Inverness, in Highland. Anywhere in IV63, our applicators can take on regrouting. Our Highland coverage runs to 253 places, and Glen Moriston is one of them.

Here we cover the IV63 postcode area for regrouting. Nearby, we also carry out regrouting in Fort Augustus (5 miles south-east), Newtown (6 miles south-east), Aberchalder (6 miles south-east), Invermoriston (7 miles north-east) and Laggan (10 miles south). Remote and island addresses need a little more planning, so please mention your location when you drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Common problems we fix in Glen Moriston

Most grout is porous, so it soaks up water, soap and dirt. Given time, it discolours and begins to break down and showers that get daily use suffer most.

People usually contact us after spotting something like this:

  • Shower grout that has worn away
  • Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
  • Crumbling grout between the tiles
  • Cracked grout along the bath or tray

In and around Glen Moriston, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Are they insured?
  • What the cure time is
  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • How the joint is cleaned and prepared

Our hiring checklist

What affects the quote in Glen Moriston

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:

  • The type of sealant required
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Whether the work is at height

There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Helping us quote

There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:

  • The address or postcode of the job
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs

Need a quote? Please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the job. We’ll explain what we’d do and give you a clear price before work begins.

What we can’t put right

Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant will not put right:

  • Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling

Not sure which it is? You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What we seal

  • Shower walls
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Bathroom floors
  • Tiled floors
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Wet rooms

FAQs for Glen Moriston

Do you cover smaller places like Glen Moriston?

Yes. Glen Moriston is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Glen Moriston?

All our work, in Glen Moriston and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Do you grout the corners?

We seal corners with silicone. They move slightly and grout cannot take that movement.

Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?

In most cases, yes. The corners and edges should be silicone, and it makes sense to renew both together.

How do I get a quote for regrouting in Glen Moriston?

We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. We agree the price before any work begins.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Yes. Just list everything you need and you’ll get one quote.

What information do you need?

Just the basics: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. After that, simply send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?

Yes. With the old grout removed, the new colour fills the whole joint rather than sitting on top.

DIY versus a professional finish

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.

How it works

You do not need to clear the whole room or building before we come, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the work takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room for a typical job. For a place like Glen Moriston, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. We remove the old grout carefully.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

Before we arrive

  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before

How to get a quote

Getting a quote is simple: let us know what needs doing and where. Photos by email help us understand the job.

Keeping the joints in good condition

After the cure time, these simple habits help:

  • Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
  • Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
  • Run the extractor fan during and after a shower

Before we leave, you will know when the shower can be used. Stick to that time, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.

Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets behind the tiles, and they can begin to come away and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.
