Regrouting for homes and businesses in Emmer Green
We regroute showers, bathroom walls and floors, splashbacks and wet rooms. Some jobs are a whole room, or just the area that has failed. Whatever the size, the method stays the same. We’re often asked to deal with discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles and gaps where the shower grout has gone, across tiled floors, bathroom floors and bathroom wall tiles.
In and around Emmer Green, older properties sit alongside newer ones. In older homes, walls and floors can move a little more, so the right flexible sealant matters.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, call 0345 464 0079 or email us.

What affects the quote in Emmer Green
We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- Any mould that needs treating
- The number of rooms or windows
- Access and height
Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You will know the price before we begin.
Helping us quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- Roughly how big the job is
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- The address or postcode of the job
It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we will explain how we’d tackle it. Whenever you are ready, call 0345 464 0079 or email us.
Emmer Green: your questions answered
Do you cover smaller places like Emmer Green?
Yes. Emmer Green is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Do you cover Emmer Green for regrouting?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Emmer Green is part of that. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.
Will it make a mess?
Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we tidy up before we go.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No, because it fails. The old sealant always comes out first, so the new sealant bonds properly.
Can you regrout just the shower?
Yes. A lot of our jobs are only the shower, or just the joints that have failed.
What guarantee comes with the work?
You get our 12-month guarantee on every job, and we are fully insured.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?
New grout cannot hold loose tiles in place. We check the tiles first and tell you if any are loose or hollow so you know where you stand.
What regrouting looks like in Emmer Green
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
Schools such as The Hill Primary School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. If you let a flat or house near Reading station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. If you live in an older home near St Barnabas Church Hall, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

DIY versus a professional finish
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
What we do, step by step
When we arrive, we start by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work begins. The work generally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. In a smaller place like Emmer Green, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
Before we arrive
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Move anything stored near the joints

What the job involves on each surface
Kitchen splashbacks
The grout by the hob and sink takes most of the mess. We regroute and reseal the worktop joint.
Bathroom wall tiles
Tiles away from the shower stay drier but still stain and crack. Regrouting brings them back in line.
What sealant work cannot fix
We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
- Damaged tiles that need replacing
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will say what we think.

Leave it or put it right?
Regrouting keeps the tiles you already have. Retiling means stripping the walls, making good and choosing new tiles, and often a few days without a shower. When the tiles are fine, it’s the sensible first step. Homes in smaller places like Emmer Green can face more weather, and failed outside joints let damp into walls. Inside, a split seal lets water into floors and panels just as it would anywhere.
What it costs depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before work begins.

How to look after the new joints
A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
- Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
- Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
Leave the area unused for as long as we advise, so it can harden properly. From then on, a quick rinse after showering helps and keep the room ventilated.
Grout that is washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Each shower drives water into the open joints and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.
