Regrouting in East Bergholt
Raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors for homes and businesses in East Bergholt and across Essex. Fully insured, ARBOMaster approved and guaranteed for a year.
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Splashback grout that has darkened
Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchen splashbacks
Splashback grout picks up grease and cooking stains. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.
Bathroom wall tiles
Splash areas around basins and baths stain first. We can regroute just those areas or the whole wall.
Regrouting in East Bergholt

Just mention the colour you’d like when you phone 0345 464 0079 or email us. If you’re dealing with cracked grout along the bath or tray and grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned, we can put it right.
Even in a smaller place like East Bergholt, bathrooms and kitchens see heavy daily use. Older or newer, every room gets the same approach: all the old material out, the joint cleaned and dried, then new sealant or grout.

How to look after the new joints
Looking after new joints is easy:
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
- Have loose tiles looked at early
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
- Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
Clean the grout with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft brush. Keep harsh bleach and acid limescale removers away from it because they wear grout away.
Stains that will not clean are a sign the grout is breaking down. Regrouting at this stage is straightforward, before the joints open up.
East Bergholt questions
Is East Bergholt in your area for regrouting?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and East Bergholt is part of that. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a few details of the job.
I let a flat near Manningtree station. Can you help?
Yes, we work for landlords and letting agents. Just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us about the property, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Will it make a mess?
Tidy work is part of the job. We protect what’s around the joints, and we clear up when we’re done.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done and we will quote it together.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint before resealing.
Do I have to be there?
We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.
Where are you based?
Our base is Crawley, with over 20 years’ experience. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.
Will regrouting fix loose tiles?
Loose or hollow tiles are a sign of a problem behind them. Grout on its own will not fix that and we’ll say so before going ahead.
Regrouting in East Bergholt: local notes
East Bergholt is within about 3 miles of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
In the older streets around Church of St Mary, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Letting a property close to Manningtree station? Then stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

What we’re called out for in East Bergholt
Grout used in corners or along the bath cracks as the bath or tray moves. They need flexible sealant, and if they’re grouted, a crack soon lets water in.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
- Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
- Grout that makes sound tiles look old
- Grout in corners that has cracked
Managing a site like East Bergholt High School? Then its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

What sealant work can’t fix
It helps to know what we cannot do too:
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
- Cracked or broken tiles
If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think.

Should I try it myself first?
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
What happens on the day
At the end, we look at the finished work together and explain the cure time. The work normally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, depending on how much there is to do. Parking around East Bergholt is normally easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. For outside work, side access and the height of the joints help us plan.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear items away from the joints we are working on
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Tell us if parking is tricky
