Regrouting in Dungeness, done properly
We check the tiles before any grout comes out. If any tiles are loose or sound hollow, we tell you, since new grout can’t fix a problem underneath. With sound tiles, regrouting is a tidy, lasting improvement. We work on shower walls, bathroom floors and wet rooms, and people most often call us about splashback grout that has darkened and old grout in a dated colour.
Around Dungeness, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Questions from Dungeness
Will you come out to Dungeness?
Yes. Dungeness is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Dungeness?
All our work, in Dungeness and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
Tiles that have come away need sorting first. We will point them out before any grout comes out.
What do you need from me for a quote?
The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. If you can, email a few pictures.
Will there be a smell?
There can be a smell while the sealant cures. Ventilation helps.
How long will you be here?
It depends on the size of the job, but as a guide it takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. We’ll give you a better idea when we quote.
What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?
We use silicone in corners and along edges. Grout in a moving joint soon cracks.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator, and we’re fully insured.
Keeping the joints in good condition
Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
- Skip wire brushes and scourers
- Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
- Use gentle cleaners on grout
Use a gentle cleaner on the grout with a soft brush. Keep harsh bleach and acid limescale removers away from it, as they can break grout down.
Grout that’s washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps, and that water can reach the wall or the floor below.
What we do, step by step
We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. For a village or hamlet like Dungeness, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- Dust is cleared from every joint.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Move anything stored near the joints

Related advice
DIY sealant or a professional job?
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
Landlords, agents and businesses in Dungeness
We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.
Letting agents and landlords in Dungeness can book us as well as householders. Resealing between tenancies keeps a property looking cared for before the next move-in.
Leave it or put it right?
Regrouting keeps the tiles you already have. Retiling is a much bigger job: stripping, making good, new tiles and new grout, and often a few days without a shower. When the tiles are fine, it’s the sensible first step. Older cottages and farmhouses around Dungeness can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
The cost depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before work begins, so you know where you stand.

What affects the cost of regrouting
Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:
- How much there is to do
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- The number of rooms or windows
A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
Asking for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:
- A few photos by email, if you can
- Whether it has been sealed before
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- Where the property is
For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or send an email if you’d rather. Describe what needs sealing and we will talk you through the work and give you a clear quote.

Other services in Dungeness
Different surfaces, different methods
Bathroom wall tiles
Whole bathroom walls can be regrouted in one visit or more, depending on the area. It’s a good time to change the grout colour.
Wet rooms
New grout in a wet room keeps the surface sound. It does not repair failed tanking underneath.
Bathrooms and kitchens in Dungeness
Dungeness is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
For jobs in and around Dungeness, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish. In and around Dungeness, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.
