Dean Regrouting

We cover Dean for raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly.

  • Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
  • Floor grout that has worn and darkened
  • Old grout in a dated colour

DIY versus a professional finish

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

Regrouting in Dean, done properly

A grout colour change can freshen a room without retiling. Light grout can go darker to hide marks or back again. Tell us what you have in mind when you ask for a quote. We work on wet rooms, bathroom wall tiles and tiled floors, and the jobs we see most are good tiles let down by tired grout and dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor.

Somewhere as small as Dean, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

Big or small, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee.

Dean homes and their sealant

Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

For landlords with property near Botley station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. If you look after a building such as Bishops Waltham Infant School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Dean is about 6 miles north-east of Hedge End, in Hampshire. Jobs in Dean get the same care as everywhere else we work: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. Dean is one of 683 towns and villages in Hampshire we cover for regrouting. You can also see our page for Southampton, about 9 miles away.

Postcode districts we cover here for regrouting: SO32. If you need regrouting at a property on Dean Lane, Little Ashton Lane and Limekiln Lane or anywhere close by, our applicators can take on the job. Neighbouring places we cover for regrouting include The Hangers (1 mile east), Upper Swanmore (2 miles south-east), Swanmore (2 miles south), Hill Grove (2 miles south-east) and Droxford (3 miles east). We also work in nearby towns such as Winchester (8 miles north-west), Gosport (12 miles south), Havant (12 miles south-east), Eastleigh (6 miles west), Fareham (8 miles south) and Horndean (9 miles south-east).

Honest limits

We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:

  • Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
  • A floor or wall that keeps moving
  • Water coming from plumbing rather than grout

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

The process

We work through the job in order: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room and we leave things clean and tidy. Somewhere like Dean needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. The old grout is removed to an even depth.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
  5. Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.

Common problems we fix in Dean

When tiles or the wall behind them move, the grout cracks. That can be a loose tile, a flexing floor or a stud wall, which is why we check the tiles first.

Any of these means the joints need attention:

  • Grout washed out of a shower
  • Cracked or crumbling grout lines
  • Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
  • Cracked grout along the bath or tray

If you live in an older home near Church of St Peter, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Choosing a sealant specialist

Dean: your questions answered

Is Dean in your area for regrouting?

Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Dean is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job.

Will you come out to Dean?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

How much does regrouting cost in Dean?

There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. We agree the price before any work begins.

How long will you be here?

As a guide, most jobs take anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Bigger jobs take longer.

What should I tell you?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. If you can, email a few pictures.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. As well as homeowners, we work for landlords, agents, businesses and hotels across Hampshire.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint.

Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?

Most of the time, yes. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so we renew both and it’s all in the quote.

Why deal with it now?

With regrouting, your tiles stay where they are. Retiling is a much bigger job: stripping, making good, new tiles and new grout, and often a few days without a shower. When the tiles are fine, it’s the sensible first step. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Dean, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Combining jobs into one visit normally makes better use of the time than several visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. We will give you a clear price for the lot.

Keeping the joints in good condition

How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use
  • Wipe water off the walls when you’re done
  • Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
  • Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges

Before we leave, you’ll know when the shower can be used. Please follow it, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.

Fixing grout early is a small job. Left for a few years, they can become a leak so it’s worth dealing with as soon as you spot it.
