Cressing Regrouting
We cover Cressing for raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly.
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
- Good tiles let down by tired grout
- Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
About our regrouting in Cressing
We take the old grout out to a consistent depth, without damaging the edges of the tiles. The joints are then vacuumed, regrouted and cleaned off, and the corners get fresh silicone. Common call-outs are for crumbling grout between the tiles and grout in a colour the owner wants to change, across bathroom floors, kitchen splashbacks and tiled floors.
Somewhere as small as Cressing, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, call 0345 464 0079 or email us.

How to look after the new joints
A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
- Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
- Have loose tiles looked at early
Leave the area unused for as long as we advise, so it cures fully. After that, rinse the tiles after showering and keep the room ventilated.
Stains that will not clean are a sign the grout is breaking down. Regrouting at this stage is straightforward while the tiles are still sound.

What happens on the day
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The work itself takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Somewhere as small as Cressing, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- Dust is cleared from every joint.
- The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
- Internal corners and edges are resealed.
Getting ready for the visit
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Clear the area around the work

Can I do it myself?
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
What we’re called out for in Cressing
When tiles or the wall behind them move, the grout cracks. Loose tiles, bouncy floors and timber walls can all do it, so we check the tiles before any work starts.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
- Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
- Good tiles let down by tired grout
In the older streets around Parish Church of All Saints, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Common questions in Cressing
Will you come out to Cressing?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Can you do regrouting in Cressing?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Cressing is part of that. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job.
Can you regrout just the shower?
Yes, that’s common. Shower grout tends to go before the rest, so it’s often the only area that needs doing.
How long should I wait before showering?
Before we leave, we will tell you how long to wait. The grout and sealant both need to cure before they get wet.
Do I need to be at home?
We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.
What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?
Internal corners and edges are sealed with flexible silicone. Grout in a moving joint soon cracks.
Can landlords and businesses book you?
Yes, regularly. We can quote for several properties at once, and between tenancies is a good time for the work.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us.
What affects the cost of regrouting
There’s no set price list. The quote depends on:
- Working hours on commercial sites
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- The product the joint needs
- How many areas need sealing
Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.
Helping us quote
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Try to tell us:
- Roughly how big the job is
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
A good description makes for an accurate quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints.
Regrouting in Cressing: local notes
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Schools such as Cressing Primary School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

How the job changes by surface
Bathroom wall tiles
Grout by the basin and bath tends to mark first. We can regroute just those areas or the whole wall.
Corners and edges
Corners flex as the building moves, so they get silicone, not grout.
