What affects the cost of regrouting
For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:
- Any mould that needs treating
- How much there is to do
- Access and height
- The product the joint needs
The cost depends on how much there is to do, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before work begins.
Asking for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:
- The address or postcode of the job
- How we’d reach the joints
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- If someone has resealed it before
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we’ll explain how we’d tackle it. Whenever you’re ready, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Regrouting in Cartsdyke
We take the old grout out to a consistent depth, taking care not to chip the tile edges. The joints are then vacuumed, regrouted and cleaned off, and the corners get fresh silicone. We work on bathroom wall tiles, bathroom floors and shower walls, and people most often call us about grout that’s cracking and breaking up and gaps where the shower grout has gone.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are generally the first signs.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right with it, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

I let a flat near Whinhill station. Can you help?

Do you work in hotels near Cartsdyke?
Yes, we work for hotels as well as homes and businesses. A room-by-room programme keeps most rooms in use while the work goes on.
Where are you based?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. Our applicators cover Cartsdyke.
Will you leave a mess?
No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. If you can, email a few pictures.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured, and we have been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
Do you cover Cartsdyke?
Yes. We’re based in Crawley and work across South East England, London and Scotland, Cartsdyke included.
How long will you be here?
As a guide, most jobs take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Bigger jobs take longer.
Can I do it myself?
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again.
Signs you need regrouting in Cartsdyke
Grout used in corners or along the bath cracks as the bath or tray moves. Those joints should be silicone, and when they aren’t, water gets in.
The problems people normally mention when they call are:
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Grout stained black or orange that will not clean
- Grout in corners that has cracked
- A grout colour that no longer suits the room
In the older streets around St Laurence’s Church (Greenock), walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
What your quote should include
- Whether all the old sealant comes out first
- How hidden problems are handled
- Are they insured?
- The length of the guarantee

Regrouting in Cartsdyke: local notes
Cartsdyke is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.
Rented homes near Whinhill station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Wellington Academy, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Different surfaces, different methods
Corners and edges
Corners flex as the building moves, so they get silicone, not grout.
Bathroom floors
If floor grout keeps cracking, the floor may be moving. We look for loose tiles first.
What we do, step by step
Every visit runs the same way: we look at the joints together, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, carry out the job and clear up. It usually takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Outdoor work around Cartsdyke depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
How to prepare
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Move anything stored near the joints

How to look after the new joints
Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:
- Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
- Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
Give the new grout the time we tell you before using the shower, so it can harden properly. After that, rinse the tiles after showering and keep the room ventilated.
Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. By then, new grout alone is not enough, so it’s worth acting early.
