Regrouting in Bagnor

Regrouting in Bagnor, done properly

We check the tiles before any grout comes out. Loose or hollow tiles are pointed out first, since new grout cannot fix a problem underneath. With sound tiles, regrouting is a tidy, lasting improvement. We work on kitchen splashbacks, bathroom wall tiles and bathroom floors, and people most often call us about dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor and cracked or crumbling grout lines.

For a small place like Bagnor, regrouting is planned like any other job: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

A 12-month guarantee comes as standard.

Honest limits

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Cracked or broken tiles
  • A structure that flexes behind the tiles
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What we seal

  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Shower walls
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Bathroom floors
  • Wet rooms
  • Tiled floors

The process

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The work itself takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Somewhere like Bagnor needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
  • Mention any tricky access
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Advice

How to look after the new joints

Good habits help new joints last longer. A few tips:

  • Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use
  • Keep the fan on after showering

Use a gentle cleaner on the grout and a soft brush. Keep harsh bleach and acid limescale removers away from it, as they can break grout down.

If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Each shower drives water into the open joints, and that water can reach the wall or the floor below.

When to call us in Bagnor

Grout that was put in corners cracks as the bath or tray moves. They need flexible sealant, and if they’re grouted, a crack soon lets water in.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Splashback grout that has darkened
  • Stained grout that cleaning won’t shift
  • Cracked grout along the bath or tray
  • Grout washed out of a shower

For landlords with property near Newbury station, stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

What your quote should include

  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
  • What guarantee comes with the work
  • How much experience the applicator has
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint

Regrouting in Bagnor: local notes

Bagnor has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Robert Sandilands Primary School and Nursery, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Homes close to Parish Church of St Mary include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

What affects the cost of regrouting

Jobs vary more than people expect. The main factors:

  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Whether the work is at height
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved

A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re unsure, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

What to tell us for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • A few photos by email, if you can
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • What’s wrong with the joints now

Call for a quick quote, or send an email if you’d rather. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will explain what’s involved.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements and we’ll give you a quote.

Hotels need rooms back in use, so we plan the work room by room. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.

Your questions about regrouting in Bagnor

Do you take on hotel work around Bagnor?

Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.

Do you work for landlords with property near Newbury station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us about the property, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned.

How much does regrouting cost in Bagnor?

It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. To get one, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing and where.

Does someone need to be in?

It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.

Do you guarantee regrouting?

You get our 12-month guarantee on every job, and we’re fully insured.

Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?

Normally we do both. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so both are renewed and it’s all in the quote.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

Why act early in Bagnor

Cracked grout lets water behind the tiles. Left alone, that water can loosen tiles or damage the wall, which turns a regrout into a retile. Dealing with it now keeps it small. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Bagnor, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You’ll know the price before we begin.
