Alfold Regrouting
Our applicators work in Alfold on raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old sealant removed completely, joints prepared properly.
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Floor grout that won’t come clean
What happens if it’s left?
With regrouting, your tiles stay where they are. Retiling is a much bigger job: stripping, making good, new tiles and new grout, and often a few days without a shower. When the tiles are fine, it’s the sensible first step. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Alfold, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Regrouting for homes and businesses in Alfold
We work across Alfold, regrouting bathrooms, showers and kitchens. The old grout is raked out, the joints cleaned and new grout laid, finished with new silicone at the edges. We work on tiled floors, shower walls and bathroom wall tiles, and common reasons people get in touch are dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor and grout stained black or orange that won’t clean.
Around Alfold, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.
Big or small, you get the same 12-month guarantee.

What else we do in Alfold
Different surfaces, different methods
Shower walls
Showers put more water on grout than anywhere else. We rake it out and regrout, and reseal the corners.
Bathroom wall tiles
Tiles away from the shower stay drier but grout there still discolours. New grout freshens them up.
Alfold homes and their sealant
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
Around Alfold, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it. In the older streets around Church of St Nicholas, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

How the visit works
Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we don’t rush it. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. All told, the work takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Somewhere like Alfold needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
Before we arrive
- Clear the area around the work
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints, and add pictures by email if you can.
Advice
DIY sealant or a professional job?
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly.
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
How to look after the new joints
Aftercare is simple:
- Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
- Do not ignore a tile that feels loose
- Wipe water off the walls when you’re done
- Check the corner silicone every few months
Give the new grout the time we tell you before using the shower, so it cures fully. After that, rinse the tiles after showering and keep the room ventilated.
Grout that’s washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Each shower drives water into the open joints, and that water can reach the wall or the floor below.
When something else is needed
To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:
- Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- A leaking shower valve or waste
If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
