Our bathroom resealing service in PA61
A shower joint gets soaked every day. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. We’re often asked to deal with two layers of silicone, both failing and lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt, across shower trays & enclosures, baths and kitchen worktops & upstands.
Good joint work is mostly preparation, so that’s where we spend the time. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. In total, it normally takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers.
- We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
How we quote
Doing several joints on one visit usually makes better use of the time than several visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.

Around Scalasaig
In Scalasaig, that means homes and buildings near Colonsay Inn and Scalasaig Parish Church. Nearby you’ll also find The Old Waiting Room (less than half a mile west). The countryside around Scalasaig includes Loch Fada and Càrnan Eoin.
Bathrooms and kitchens across PA61
Homes across PA61 range from older properties to new builds, with plenty of rented property in places like Scalasaig and Upper Kilchattan. Sound sealant and clean grout keep water out and rooms looking cared for.
We work across all of Scotland, from the cities to the islands, and PA61 is part of that. Longer journeys are planned in advance, and outdoor work around the weather. Along the coast in PA61, holiday lets and guest houses can have bathrooms in near-constant use, so their sealant and grout wear faster than most, and the weather is hard on the outside too.
Scalasaig: In and around Scalasaig, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint. Homes close to Scalasaig Parish Church include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.
Landlords, agents and businesses in PA61
Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report. Several properties can go on one quote.
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements and we’ll quote.
Honest limits
To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
- Failed grout lines across the wall
DIY versus a professional finish
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
How we quote for bathroom resealing
The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- Whether the work is at height
- The product the joint needs
- The old material and how stubborn it is
What it costs depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and access to the work. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts.
Asking for a quote
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:
- The rough size of the job
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- A few photos by email, if you can
- What’s wrong with the joints now
If you are in PA61 and need bathroom resealing, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk. A short description of the job and where it is helps us quote, and you’ll get a clear quote before we start.
Why act early?
Bleach and mould sprays may lighten black marks for a while, but where mould is inside the silicone it generally comes back. The lasting answer is to remove the bead and start again.
Questions to ask before you book
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
- How hidden problems are handled
- What preparation is included
- Whether the sealant suits the joint
PA61 questions
Is it worth trying it myself?
That depends on the joint. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.
Do you work in PA61?
Yes, we do. PA61 is part of the area we cover.
Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?
Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Sprays can fade the marks, but cutting it out and resealing is what lasts. Airing the room well helps stop it returning.
How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?
Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or as long as we advise for that product.
What does bathroom resealing cost?
Every job is different, so each one gets its own quote. For a quick quote, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing and where.
Where do you work from?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. Our applicators cover PA61.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes. We have worked for hotels, offices and other businesses.
