Bathroom resealing in CT19: how it works

Showers work their sealant harder than baths. Trays, enclosures, screen profiles and wet room floors all need a flexible, waterproof seal. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, finished smooth so water drains away rather than collecting. We work on wet rooms, sinks & splashbacks and basins & vanity units, and people most often call us about two layers of silicone, both failing and water escaping at the shower enclosure.

When we get to you, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

Bathroom resealing across CT19: local notes

Our bathroom resealing work across CT19 covers homes, rentals and businesses, from Folkestone, Cheriton and Newington to the quieter places in between. Wherever the job is, all the old material comes out before anything new goes in.

London and the South East are among the drier parts of the UK, though outside sealant still needs a dry, clean joint, so work across CT19 is planned around the weather. Parts of CT19 are on or near the coast, where wind-driven rain and, closer to the shore, salt air are hard on outside sealant. Joints on seaward walls tend to fail first.

Cheriton: For landlords with property near Folkestone West station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as All Soul's Church of England Primary School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in CT19

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:

  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • The type of sealant required
  • The number of rooms or windows

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part.

Helping us quote

There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:

  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • A few pictures by email, if you can

For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or email us if that’s easier. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we’ll talk you through the work.

Leave it or put it right?

Tired sealant isn’t a reason to replace a bath or shower. Replacing the joint is normally all it takes. If we find a deeper problem, you’ll hear it from us.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it
  • How much experience the applicator has
  • What product goes in the joint
  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant

How the job changes by surface

Shower trays & enclosures

A tray that rocks will split any sealant. Movement is checked before anything is resealed, and tell you if it needs re-bedding first.

Sinks & splashbacks

Where a splashback meets the worktop, there’s a joint that catches every splash. It’s resealed in white, clear or a colour to suit.

Common problems we fix in CT19

Silicone needs a clean, dry surface without any grease to stick to. Traces of soap, bath oil and old sealant stop it gripping, so a rushed job can start to lift early.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
  • Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
  • Mouldy sealant that has gone black
  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone

Common questions in CT19

Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?

Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so we cut it out, treat the joint and reseal with anti-fungal silicone.
