New Build Mastic in Terrick

New build mastic near Terrick

Surface by surface

Skirting and floors

As timber and screed dry, skirting and floors shift. We use a flexible product rather than caulk painted or coloured to suit.

Windows and doors

Internal joints between frames and plaster often crack as a new house dries. We cut out the cracked bead and reseal with a flexible sealant that suits the frame.

New build mastic in Terrick, done properly

For builders and developers, we work through plots to the schedule you give us. We seal bathrooms, kitchens, windows, doors and skirting so plots are ready to hand over with a sealant suited to each area. Common call-outs are for plot mastic for developers ahead of handover and cracked sealant around new window and door frames, across windows & doors, bathrooms & en suites and plot handovers.

In a village or hamlet like Terrick, new homes are more likely to be a barn conversion or a handful of houses than a big estate. Each still needs its sealant and floor joints finished properly.

Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Buckinghamshire.

Quotes for new build mastic in Terrick

Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • Access and height
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • The product the joint needs

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.

What to tell us for a quote

To help us quote quickly, please include:

  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • The rough size of the job

Call for a quick quote, or email us if that’s easier. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will talk you through the work before giving you a price.

When it is not the sealant

To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:

  • Movement caused by a poorly fitted tray or bath
  • Cracking that points to a structural problem
  • Leaking fittings rather than failed sealant

Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we seal

  • Skirting & floors
  • Show homes
  • Bathrooms & en suites
  • Kitchens
  • Windows & doors
  • Plot handovers

Aftercare tips

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Don’t seal over failed sealant yourself
  • Use the extractor fan every time you shower
  • Follow the cure time we give you
  • Get a leaking seal dealt with straight away

Do not stand on the bath edge or the lip of the tray while the sealant cures. If a bath or tray moves when you stand in it, get it looked at.

Lifting sealant traps moisture and mould behind it. Resealing before mould gets in saves a harder job later.

Can I do it myself?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

What happens on the day

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and explain the cure time. The work normally takes a few hours for most snagging lists, longer for a run of plots, depending on the size of the job. Somewhere as small as Terrick, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We start by going through the snagging items or plot schedule with you.
  2. Every bit of the old builder’s sealant is cut out, with no layer left behind.
  3. We clean out the dust and grit left from the build.
  4. Primer goes on where the surface and product need it, then the new sealant.
  5. We tool every joint neatly and tell you when each area can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in

Advice

Signs you need new build mastic in Terrick

Not every new-build joint gets the right sealant: caulk where water collects, or a rigid product on a moving joint. Neither lasts long.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Skirting joints opening in the first winter
  • Internal frame sealant that has split
  • Shower seals failing in the first year or two
  • Second-fix sealing on new plots

In and around Terrick, as anywhere, good new build mastic starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Common questions in Terrick

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Little Kimble station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear price.

Will you come out to Terrick?

Yes, Terrick is covered. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

When is the best time to reseal in a new build?

Any seal that’s leaking should be redone straight away. Cosmetic gaps can wait until the first year or two of movement has passed.

Do you work through snagging lists?

Yes. Snagging lists are a common starting point for us. We agree the sealant items with you before we start.

Can you do plot mastic on a new development?

Yes. Second-fix sealing in bathrooms, kitchens, frames and floors is part of what we do. Good preparation keeps snagging to a minimum.

Do you use white or clear sealant?

It depends on the joint: white or clear for most sanitary joints, colours for worktops, floors and frames. We agree the colour before we start.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status, and we’re fully insured.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes, regularly. We can plan bigger jobs in stages to suit the site.
