New build mastic in Nis
If your new home has a leaking shower seal, open skirting joints or untidy sealant, we can help. If you’re still within the builder’s snagging or warranty period, tell them first and if that stalls, we can do it. We work on bathrooms & en suites, windows & doors and plot handovers, and people most often call us about shower seals failing in the first year or two and sealant that never bonded to the surface.
New homes in smaller Scottish places are often single plots, self-builds or small developments. Each needs its sealant and floor joints finished as carefully as on a big site.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What else we do in Nis
When it isn’t the sealant
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Settlement cracks that need a surveyor
- Baths and trays that move too much for sealant to cope with
- Broken tiles or a split tray
Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly.
Surfaces we seal
- Windows & doors
- Bathrooms & en suites
- Plot handovers
- Skirting & floors
- Kitchens

Can I do it myself?
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.
How to look after the new joints
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Wait for the cure time before using a resealed shower
- Wipe joints with warm soapy water
- Raise failed sealant with the developer while you are covered
- Look at the sealant regularly in the first couple of years
Follow the cure time we give you before the area gets wet. Silicone is generally left for about a day to cure enough for use.
A seal that splits early is often a sign of movement. Getting it resealed properly, and any movement checked, stops it recurring.
What affects the cost of new build mastic
Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:
- When we can work, for business premises
- The number and length of the joints
- The type of sealant required
- Any mould that needs treating
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
Asking for a quote
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- How we’d reach the joints
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- If someone has resealed it before
- Roughly how big the job is

What we’re called out for in Nis
Later trades and the final clean can damage fresh sealant. A bead disturbed before it has cured may never seal properly, and the problem shows up after you move in.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Gaps behind new kitchen upstands
- Sealant that never bonded to the surface
- Cracked caulk along new skirting
- Gaps opening as the house dries out and settles
Around Nis, as everywhere, new build mastic is only as good as the preparation behind it.

How the visit works
We work through the job in order: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. For most jobs that takes a few hours for most snagging lists, longer for a run of plots. In smaller Scottish places, parking is generally less of an issue than access and distance. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.
- First, the list of joints is agreed from your snagging sheet or plot schedule.
- The failed sealant is removed completely down to clean surfaces.
- Joints are vacuumed and cleaned of building dust.
- Primer goes on where the surface and product need it, then the new sealant.
- Each bead is tooled and the cure times explained.
How to prepare
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in

Advice
Common questions in Nis
Will you come out to Nis?
Yes, we do. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, islands included, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Do you cover Nis for new build mastic?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Nis is part of that. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.
How do I get a quote for new build mastic in Nis?
The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Call for a quick quote.
How long does the job take?
A typical job takes a few hours in a single home. Your quote will say how long we expect yours to take.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. All our work carries a one-year guarantee.
Can new sealant go on top of the old bead?
No. Over-sealing traps mould and water and soon fails. We remove every bit of the old bead before resealing.
Is it messy?
Tidy work is part of the job. We protect what’s around the joints, and we clear up when we’re done.
What should I tell you?
Tell us what needs doing and where, plus pictures if you have them. If we need more, we’ll ask.
