New build mastic near Lacasaidh

How the visit works

Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. For most jobs that takes a few hours in a single home, and the area is left clean. Around Lacasaidh, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. We look at why each joint failed, including any movement.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the joints cleaned.
  3. Joints are dried and primed where the product calls for it.
  4. Baths are filled with water, then the new sealant is applied.
  5. We check every joint and leave you with the cure times.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in

New build mastic in Lacasaidh, done properly

Some new-home owners let the house settle before resealing. For small cosmetic gaps, that’s reasonable, but a failed shower or bath seal shouldn’t wait. Typical jobs include cracked sealant around new window and door frames and gaps opening as the house dries out and settles, on windows & doors, show homes and plot handovers.

For a place like Lacasaidh, the journey and access are planned in advance. Inside work goes ahead in any weather; outside mastic needs a dry day.

Every job comes with a 12-month guarantee, wherever you are in Na h-Eileanan Siar.

Lacasaidh: your questions answered

Is Lacasaidh in your area for new build mastic?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Lacasaidh is part of that. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear price.

Is new build mastic in Lacasaidh guaranteed?

Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Do I need to be at home?

That depends on where the joints are. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in.

Can you work on commercial sites?

Yes, regularly. We can plan bigger jobs in stages.

Is it worth resealing while the house is still settling?

That depends on the joint. Failed seals in wet areas need doing now, while small cosmetic gaps can wait a while.

How long before the joint can be used?

Cure times vary by product and the conditions. We tell you how long to leave it before we go.

Can you work from my snagging list?

Yes. We often work straight from a snagging list. We agree the sealant items with you before any work starts.

What information do you need?

Tell us what needs doing and where. If we need more, we’ll ask.

Why act early in Lacasaidh

A hairline gap at a skirting can wait, but water getting through cannot. Not sure whether yours can wait? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few photos and we will tell you. In an older home around Lacasaidh, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

What the job involves on each surface

Bathrooms and en suites

En suite showers are a common source of leaks into the room below. Resealing properly keeps water where it belongs.

Plot handovers

Plot mastic is carried out to the developer’s schedule. Each joint is cleaned and primed where needed.

When it isn’t the sealant

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:

  • Structural cracks in walls or ceilings
  • Movement caused by a poorly fitted tray or bath
  • Broken tiles or a split tray

If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we seal

  • Skirting & floors
  • Bathrooms & en suites
  • Plot handovers
  • Show homes
  • Kitchens
  • Windows & doors

Can I do it myself?

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

Aftercare tips

Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:

  • Use the extractor fan every time you shower
  • Look at the sealant regularly in the first couple of years
  • Resist patching a failed seal with a tube from the DIY shop
  • Get a leaking seal dealt with right away

Follow the cure time we give you before the area gets wet. Most silicones need around a day.

Early snagging is easier snagging. Small faults turn into leaks if left.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements.

Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report, and it’s easy to sort out between tenants. Several properties can go on one quote.
