Trusted new build mastic in Cardrona Village

Should I try it myself first?

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, then guaranteed for a year.

New build mastic in Cardrona Village, done properly

We never seal over a failed new-build bead. Fresh silicone can’t bond to the old layer, so it all comes out before we clean, dry and reseal. We work on skirting & floors, show homes and plot handovers, and common reasons people get in touch are cracks appearing as a new home settles and skirting joints opening in the first winter.

Work in a place like Cardrona Village is planned ahead, journey included. Outdoor plot mastic needs dry weather, but indoor floor and skirting joints can be sealed whatever the forecast.

You get a 12-month guarantee, the same in Cardrona Village as everywhere else we work.

How it works

We work through the job in order: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes anything from a few hours to several days, depending on the number of plots and we leave things clean and tidy. Outdoor work around Cardrona Village depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Work indoors is not affected.

  1. We start by going through the snagging items or plot schedule with you.
  2. The failed sealant is removed completely.
  3. Joints are vacuumed and cleaned of building dust.
  4. We prime where needed and apply a sealant suited to each joint.
  5. We tool every joint neatly and tell you when each area can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Clear items away from the joints we are working on

Your questions about new build mastic in Cardrona Village

Do you cover Cardrona Village for new build mastic?

Yes, Cardrona Village is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Is new build mastic in Cardrona Village guaranteed?

All our work, in Cardrona Village and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

My new home is still under warranty. Should I contact you?

Report it to the builder first while you’re covered. If it isn’t resolved, we can reseal it properly.

Why does sealant fail so quickly in new builds?

A new house dries and settles for a year or two, and sealant is often rushed onto dusty, unprimed surfaces. Both lead to early failure.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status and we are fully insured too.

Can I do it myself?

Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, and it’s something we never do.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure your landlord agrees.

Why deal with it now?

For developers, getting the sealant right first time saves return visits. Snagging visits for failed sealant cost time on every plot, and they’re avoidable with good preparation. In an older home around Cardrona Village, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster.

We do not show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will talk you through it.

When to call us in Cardrona Village

When the heating goes on in the first winter, the house dries fast. Skirting, frames and worktops pull away slightly.

Any of these means the joints need attention:

  • Joints pulling apart as timber shrinks
  • New-build shower sealant that has already split
  • Worktop and upstand sealant coming away
  • Internal frame sealant that has split

In and around Cardrona Village, as anywhere, good new build mastic starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Choosing a sealant specialist

How to look after the new joints

Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:

  • Get a leaking seal dealt with straight away
  • Raise failed sealant with the developer while you’re covered
  • Photograph failed sealant before it’s redone
  • Don’t seal over failed sealant yourself

Keep the bathroom ventilated, especially in the first year. Use the extractor fan or open a window after showers to help keep mould away.

Mould takes hold quickly in sealant that has gaps or lifted edges. Resealing before mould gets in saves a harder job later.
