Walls and rooflines in World's End
The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Beedon C.E. (Controlled) Primary School, larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Nicholas, older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant.

Gutter sealing in World's End, done properly
Open fascia and soffit joints spoil the roofline and can let weather in. We seal them in a colour to suit where possible. Typical jobs include water dripping where gutter sections meet and end caps that drip every time it rains, on roofline trims, uPVC fascias and gutter joints.
In a village or hamlet like World's End, older cottages and farm buildings often stand in the open, so walls and rooflines take the full force of wind and rain. Joints on those walls need a sealant that moves with the building and stays in place.
A 12-month guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Keeping the joints in good condition
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:
- Keep downpipes clear
- Keep an eye out for wet patches below a joint
- Look at the gutters while it’s raining
- Rest ladders on the wall, not the gutter
A sagging gutter needs its brackets checked. If it drops, the joints will open.
A drip from a gutter joint won’t stop on its own. Water keeps hitting the same part of the wall, which can lead to staining and damp.

How the visit works
When we arrive, we start by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work starts. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. Somewhere as small as World's End, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- We start by tracing the leak and checking the gutter itself is sound.
- Old sealant and dirt are removed from the joint.
- The area is dried so the sealant can bond.
- Gutter or exterior sealant is applied and finished.
- We look along the gutter and clear debris around the joints.

DIY sealant or a professional job?
A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
Why it’s worth doing now in World's End
Sealing over a dirty, wet joint is a quick fix that rarely lasts but it tends to peel off. Proper preparation is the difference. Older cottages and farmhouses around World's End can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.
