What gutter sealing looks like in Winkfield Row
With historic houses such as St Leonard's Hill (about 3.8 miles north-east) nearby, there’s older building stock in the area around Winkfield Row as well as newer homes. Where a home is older, older brick and stone need a sealant that suits them, at the right joint depth. Compared with the north and west, the South East gets less rain, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.
If you look after a building such as Winkfield St Mary's CofE Primary School, movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s. Homes close to St Martin's Church include some older properties, and the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move. Rented homes near Martins Heron station change hands often, and a gutter joint that drips onto the wall can turn into a damp complaint, so it’s worth checking.

Our work covers gutter joints and end caps as well as fascias and soffits plus roofline trims and garage door frames. It’s all about the joints rather than new guttering. We work on gutter joints, garage door frames and gutter end caps, and the jobs we see most are fascia boards with gaps between them and earlier gutter repairs that have peeled off.

What we can’t put right
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:
- Blocked downpipes
- Fascias that need replacing
- Brackets that have snapped or loosened
If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.
What we seal
- Roofline trims
- Gutter joints
- Garage door frames
- uPVC fascias
- Gutter end caps
- Soffit joints
Why deal with it now?
Sealant will not clear a blocked downpipe. We check the cause first and point you to the right trade if needed. Around Winkfield Row, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.
Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You will know the price before we begin.

How we quote for gutter sealing
We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:
- How easy the joints are to reach
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- The number of rooms or windows
- Mould in or behind the old joints
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you an honest view and a quote.
What to tell us for a quote
When you contact us, it’s useful to know:

- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- Where the property is
- How we’d reach the joints
There’s no standard price list. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To get started, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
How it works
At the end, we look at the finished work together and explain the cure time. The work normally takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run, depending on how much there is to do. For a village or hamlet like Winkfield Row, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- First we agree which joints need sealing.
- We clean out each joint.
- The joints are dried.
- The sealant is applied and finished.
- We check our work before we leave.
Getting ready for the visit
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can

Advice
DIY versus a professional finish
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
How the job changes by surface
Garage door frames
Failed sealant around a garage door frame lets water in. We cut it out and reseal.
Gutter end caps
End caps take the pressure of water running along the gutter. When their seal fails, they drip.
