Gutter sealing for Steeple View homes and businesses

About our gutter sealing in Steeple View

We work across Steeple View on leaking gutter joints and roofline trims. Single-storey and low gutters are simple to reach and if it’s higher up, let us know and we will confirm what access is needed. We are often asked to deal with internal damp traced to a gutter joint and trim joints where the sealant has failed, on roofline trims, uPVC fascias and garage door frames.

Outbuildings, garages and conservatories around homes in places like Steeple View add more joints to look after. Gutter ends, garage door frames and the joints where an extension meets the house are typical spots for leaks.

There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, whatever its size.

Steeple View buildings and the weather

Steeple View is part of Basildon, one of the post-war new towns. Homes here were built in phases, many of them in the post-war decades, so neighbouring houses often have rooflines and wall joints of the same age, wearing out at the same time. Compared with the north and west, the South East gets less rain, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.

For landlords with property near Laindon station, leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Millhouse Primary School, movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s.

Steeple View is about 2 miles north-west of Basildon, in Essex. We provide gutter sealing to homes and businesses in Steeple View and nearby. We cover 644 towns and villages across Essex, from the larger towns to small villages. There’s also a page for Chelmsford, roughly 11 miles from Steeple View.

All of SS15, CM12 and SS16 is covered for gutter sealing. Gutter sealing is available to properties on Green Lane, Kings Road and Boult Road. Neighbouring places we cover for gutter sealing include Noak Hill (1 mile north), Noak Bridge (1 mile east), Laindon (1 mile south), Lee Chapel (2 miles south-east) and Great Berry (2 miles south-west). Further out, we also cover Chelmsford (11 miles north), Brentwood (6 miles north-west), Maldon (15 miles north-east), Canvey Island (8 miles south-east), Billericay (3 miles north) and Rayleigh (8 miles east).

Aftercare tips

How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Keep an eye out for wet patches below a joint
  • Glance at the soffit joints now and then
  • Don’t leave a sagging gutter
  • Deal with a drip before winter

Check the joints after heavy rain now and then. Drips are easiest to spot while it’s raining.

A leaking garage frame lets water reach stored items. Resealing the frame is a quick job while the frame is sound.

What we’re called out for in Steeple View

When a gutter sags, its joints open. Sealing will not hold if the gutter keeps dropping, so the gutter needs refixing first.

People generally contact us after spotting one of these:

  • Stop ends leaking at the end of a run
  • Quick sealant fixes on gutters that didn’t last
  • Gaps along fascia and soffit joints
  • Garage door frames letting rain in

Homes close to Church of St Nicholas include some older properties, and the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move.

10 questions to ask before booking

How the job changes by surface

Garage door frames

The joint between frame and brickwork moves and weathers. An exterior sealant suits them.

Gutter end caps

We seal end caps from the inside where we can reach, after cleaning and drying.

Leave it or put it right?

New gutters cost far more than a few resealed joints. If the gutter is sound and the drip is a joint, resealing is the sensible fix. If it’s broken or sagging, a gutter installer needs to look. In an older home around Steeple View, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the sealant itself.

Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

Why us?

  • Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet
  • 20+ years of sealant experience
  • White, clear, grey or coloured to suit, where the product allows
  • Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over

Steeple View: your questions answered

Do older homes in Steeple View need their sealant replacing?

Often, yes: cracked, shrunken or mouldy sealant has done its job. New sealant won’t stick to old, so the old bead has to come out completely first.

Do you work for landlords with property near Laindon station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can be quoted together. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us with the details for a clear quote.

Can you seal fascia and soffit joints?

Yes, often alongside gutter joints. The gaps are cleaned and sealed neatly with a suitable exterior sealant.

Will you leave a mess?

Not at all. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.

Do you come to Steeple View?

Yes. We work in Steeple View and the rest of Essex. For a quote, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Do I have to be there?

If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Should I try DIY first?

For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.

When is the sealant fully cured?

Most sealants are touch-dry well before they’re fully cured. We will give you the cure time for the product we used.

How the visit works

On the day, we look over the joints with you first. We protect the surfaces around the joints before any work starts. The work generally takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. In a smaller place like Steeple View, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.

  1. First, we find the drip and check the gutter isn’t cracked or sagging.
  2. Old sealant and dirt are removed from the joint.
  3. The joint is dried, because sealant won’t bond to a wet surface.
  4. We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters and outdoor use.
  5. We check the run and clear any debris we find while we’re there.

Getting ready for the visit

  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts

How to get a quote
