Leave it or put it right?
Replacing guttering is a much bigger job than sealing joints. Where the gutter is in good order and only a joint leaks a reseal is all it needs. If it’s broken or sagging, a gutter installer needs to look. In a place like Springholm, small leaks are easy to put off, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.
Doing several joints on one visit is usually more efficient than separate visits. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.

How we handle gutter sealing in Springholm
A drip at a gutter joint is easy to ignore, but the water lands on the same spot every time it rains. Sealing it is quick if the gutter is otherwise in good order. Common call-outs are for water running down the wall below the gutter and stop ends leaking at the end of a run, across gutter joints, uPVC fascias and roofline trims.
Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Springholm depends on the weather. Let us know about access to every wall and roofline.
There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, whatever its size.

Looking after it afterwards
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. A few tips:
- Clean out the gutters once or twice a year
- Make sure downpipes are not blocked
- Glance at the soffit joints now and then
- Watch the wall under the gutters for staining
Make sure downpipes are not blocked so the gutter can drain. A blocked pipe backs water up to the joints.
Early sealing limits how much water hits the wall. If we find a bigger problem, we will tell you.
Gutter sealing in Springholm: local notes
Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and sound outside sealant is part of that. Harled (roughcast) walls are common in Scotland, and joints where harling meets other materials need a sealant that can grip and flex.
For jobs in and around Springholm, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish. In and around Springholm, as anywhere, good gutter sealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Garage door frames
Garage door frames let rain in when their sealant fails. We cut it out and reseal.
What affects the quote in Springholm
There’s no set price list, because no two jobs are the same. The quote depends on:
- Which sealant suits the joint
- The amount of work
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- The number of rooms or windows
We don’t show prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Helping us quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- Photos by email, if that is easy
- If someone has resealed it before
For a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts.
What sealant work can’t fix
New sealant cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not solve:
- Sagging gutters or broken brackets
- Boards that have decayed or split
- Leaks from the roof rather than a joint
If you’re not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Springholm: your questions answered
Will you come out to Springholm?
Yes. Springholm is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across all of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
What guarantee comes with gutter sealing in Springholm?
All our work, in Springholm and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Can landlords and businesses book you?
Yes, often. We can quote for several properties at once, and between tenancies is a good time for the work.
Will sealant fix a dripping gutter joint?
In many cases, yes. A clean, dry joint resealed with gutter sealant normally stops the drip. If the section is split or warped, it needs replacing.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Just the basics: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
What sealant do you use?
We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we will tell you what we are using.
Do you offer different sealant colours?
We will suggest a colour to suit the surroundings. The product needed can limit the range.
Is sealant enough for a gutter that has dropped?
Not on its own. A sagging gutter pulls its joints apart, so the brackets need fixing first.
What we do, step by step
At the end, we look at the finished work together and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself generally takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run, depending on the size of the job. Outside jobs in Springholm need a dry day, because sealant won’t bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.
- We look at where the water is coming from and check the gutter isn’t broken or sagging.
- We clean out the joint and take out the old sealant.
- The joint is dried, because sealant won’t bond to a wet surface.
- Gutter or exterior sealant is applied and finished.
- We look along the gutter and clear debris around the joints.
How to prepare
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Let us know about parking restrictions

What else we do in Springholm
Should I try it myself first?
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
