Gutter joints
A gutter joint has to cope with movement and standing water. A dedicated gutter sealant suits them.
Gutter end caps
End caps are resealed where they meet the gutter once clean and dry.
Gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Sandy Cross
A drip at a gutter joint is easy to ignore, but the water lands on the same spot every time it rains. Sealing it is quick if the gutter is otherwise in good order. Typical jobs include quick sealant fixes on gutters that didn’t last and streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint, on soffit joints, gutter joints and roofline trims.
In a smaller place like Sandy Cross, some homes face open ground, so exposed walls and rooflines take more wind-driven rain. Joints on those sides are normally the first to go.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Sandy Cross as everywhere else we work.

Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, and it’s something we never do.

Do you replace gutters or fascias?

Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
Gutter sealing in Sandy Cross: local notes
The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, but outside sealant still needs a dry, clean surface, so outdoor work is planned around the forecast.
If you look after a building such as Parkside Community Primary School, larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing. In the older streets around St Richards Church, the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move.

What we do, step by step
You do not need to clear the whole room or building, only the area right around the joints. We protect the rest, and the work takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access for a typical job. A visit to Sandy Cross is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.
- We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
- We clean out each joint.
- We make sure everything is dry.
- The sealant is applied and finished.
- We check our work before we leave.
How to prepare
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

What sealant work can’t fix
A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:
- Fascias that need replacing
- Leaks from the roof rather than a joint
- Downpipes that are blocked or broken
If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
What we seal
- Gutter joints
- Roofline trims
- Soffit joints
- uPVC fascias
- Gutter end caps
- Garage door frames
Keeping the joints in good condition
Good habits help new joints last longer. A few tips:
- Have sagging gutters refixed early
- Check the gutters during heavy rain
- Keep downpipes clear
- Clear leaves and moss from the gutters
If a gutter starts to sag, get the brackets looked at. If it drops, the joints will open.
Split sealant on fascias and trims lets water in behind. Sealing it early keeps the boards behind dry and the wall below.
What affects the cost of gutter sealing
Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- How many areas need sealing
- Which sealant suits the joint
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
Doing several joints on one visit generally makes better use of the time than several visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.
Helping us quote
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- Roughly how big the job is
- How we’d reach the joints
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- The address or postcode of the job
Want a quote for gutter sealing? Please phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us about the job. You will know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work begins.
Can I do it myself?
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, then guaranteed for a year.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
Leave it or put it right?
Replacing guttering is a much bigger job than sealing joints. Where the gutter is in good order and only a joint leaks a reseal is all it needs. If it has failed, we will tell you. Around Sandy Cross, water from a failed joint in an older home can soak into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the sealant itself.
Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.
