How we handle gutter sealing in Row Green
Open fascia and soffit joints spoil the roofline and can let weather in. They’re sealed in a matching colour where one is available. We work on gutter end caps, uPVC fascias and roofline trims, and common reasons people get in touch are damp patches inside below a leaking gutter and garage door frames letting rain in.
Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Row Green is booked around the forecast. Tell us about access to all sides of the building, including outbuildings and garages.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

Aftercare tips
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Check fascia and soffit joints for gaps
- Look at the gutters while it’s raining
- Look for streaks or damp on the wall below gutters
- Do not leave a sagging gutter
Clear the gutters once or twice a year, so water drains away past the joints. Water left in a gutter tests every joint.
Split sealant on fascias and trims lets water in behind. Sealing it early keeps the boards behind dry.
What happens if it’s left?
Leaving a leaking end cap can send water down the wall all winter. Resealing it is a quick job before the damage spreads. In a small place like Row Green, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part, and we will explain the quote if you ask.
Why us?

Row Green: your questions answered
Will you come out to Row Green?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Braintree station?
Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us about the property, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Can I do it myself?
You can, for simple jobs. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. If it does not work out, we can redo it.
Do I need to be at home?
If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. Once we’ve agreed the job, you do not need to watch us work.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
Which products do you use?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice, and we’ll tell you what we’re using.
Can you match the sealant colour?
We’ll suggest a colour to suit the surroundings. The choice depends on the product the joint needs.
Can a leaking gutter joint be sealed?
Generally, if the gutter is sound. We clean and dry the joint before sealing so the seal holds.
Row Green buildings and the weather
London and the South East are among the drier parts of the UK, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as White Court School, movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s. If you live in an older home near The Church in Great Notley, an extension built onto an older house moves differently, and the joint between them takes the strain.

What affects the cost of gutter sealing
Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:
- When we can work, for business premises
- The number of rooms or windows
- The product the joint needs
- The size of the job
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.
Asking for a quote
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- Where the property is
- The type of property
- How we’d reach the joints
- Photos by email, if that is easy
For a quote, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.
When to call us in Row Green
Sagging sections pull joints apart. Sealing won’t hold if the gutter keeps dropping, so the gutter needs refixing first.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Damp patches inside below a leaking gutter
- Stop ends leaking at the end of a run
- Drips from gutter joints and end caps
- Fascia boards with gaps between them
For landlords with property near Braintree station, a gutter joint that drips onto the wall can turn into a damp complaint, so it’s worth checking.

The process
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself normally takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access, depending on how much there is to do. For a village or hamlet like Row Green, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We find where the water is coming from and check the gutter is sound.
- The old sealant and dirt are cleaned out of the joint.
- The joint is dried before sealing.
- A gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
- We check the run and clear debris near the joints.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- Mention any tricky access
- Tell us about any water getting in

Related advice
Should I try it myself first?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
Different surfaces, different methods
Gutter joints
Most gutter leaks start at a joint between sections. They’re cleaned out, dried and resealed.
Garage door frames
Failed sealant around a garage door frame lets water in. We cut it out and reseal.
