  • Leaks from the roof rather than a joint
  • Guttering that needs replacing
  • Gutters that have dropped or pulled away

Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly.

How we handle gutter sealing in Parkhouse

Garage door frames let rain in when the sealant around them fails. We cut out the old sealant and reseal the frame using a sealant made for outdoor use. We work on uPVC fascias, roofline trims and gutter end caps, and common reasons people get in touch are wet patches on the wall under a gutter joint and open joints in fascias and soffits.

Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Parkhouse depends on the weather. Tell us how to reach each wall, gutter and roofline.

Big or small, it’s backed by our one-year guarantee in Parkhouse and across Glasgow.

Parkhouse buildings and the weather

Plenty of Scottish homes have harled walls, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface. With historic houses such as Tenement House (about 1.7 miles south-west) nearby, there’s older building stock in the area around Parkhouse as well as newer homes. In older buildings, older brick and stone need a sealant that suits them, at the right joint depth.

Managing a site like St. Roch's Secondary School? Then movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s. Historic houses such as Tenement House, about 1.7 miles south-west, show how far back building around Parkhouse goes. Rented homes near Ashfield station change hands often, and a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside.

Parkhouse is about 1 mile north-east of North Kelvinside, in Glasgow. Every kind of property in Parkhouse is covered for gutter sealing. The work is guaranteed for a year. Parkhouse is one of 183 towns and villages in Glasgow where we work for gutter sealing.

How we quote for gutter sealing

Jobs vary more than people expect. The main factors:

  • Any mould that needs treating
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • How much there is to do
  • Any working-time requirements on site

Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference, and we will explain the quote if you ask.

Helping us quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Where the property is
  • A few photos by email, if you can
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs

Every job is quoted individually. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details.

How the visit works

You do not need to clear the whole room or building before we come, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the work takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run for a typical job. Outside jobs in Parkhouse need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.

  1. We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
  2. We clean out each joint.
  3. The joints are dried.
  4. We apply exterior or gutter sealant and finish it neatly.
  5. The joints are checked once sealed.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Clear items away from the joints we are working on

Getting a quote

The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and add photos by email if you can.

Your questions about gutter sealing in Parkhouse

Is Parkhouse within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across all of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Ashfield station?

Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before we start.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit.

Is it OK to seal over old sealant?

No. We remove every bit of old sealant first, so the new joint bonds to clean surfaces.

Will you leave a mess?

No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.

Do you clean gutters?

We clear debris around the joints we are sealing. A full clean of the gutters isn’t part of it.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. We are fully insured, and we can confirm the details when we quote.

Can I choose the sealant colour?

We help you choose a colour that suits, from white and clear to greys and other shades. The product needed can limit the range.

Surface by surface

Gutter end caps

End caps take the pressure of water running along the gutter. A failed seal makes them leak.

Garage door frames

The joint between frame and brickwork moves and weathers. We use a sealant made for outdoor joints.

Should I try it myself first?

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

Why it’s worth doing now in Parkhouse

If the problem is a blocked downpipe, sealing will not help. We check the cause first and tell you if something else is needed. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

The cost depends on how much there is to do, how much old material has to come out and access to the work. We give a clear quote before work begins, so you know where you stand.

Looking after it afterwards

How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Keep downpipes clear
  • Look along the fascias for open joints
  • Watch for drips in a downpour
  • Deal with a drip before winter

Keep the gutters clear of leaves and moss, so water drains away past the joints. Water left in a gutter tests every joint.

Split sealant on fascias and trims lets water in behind. Sealing it early keeps the boards behind dry.
