Need gutter sealing in Pangbourne?

Gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Pangbourne

We don’t replace gutters, fascias or roofs. Sealant fixes joints and it cannot mend broken brackets, split sections or blocked downpipes. We work on roofline trims, soffit joints and gutter end caps, and the jobs we see most are water dripping where gutter sections meet and trim joints where the sealant has failed.

Homes around Pangbourne range from older cottages to newer houses, with walls and rooflines of every type. Older gutters and trims need their joints resealed; newer brick and render need their movement joints kept sound.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Common problems we fix in Pangbourne

Sagging sections pull joints apart. Resealing a sagging joint will not last, so the gutter needs refixing first.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Internal damp traced to a gutter joint
  • Old gutter sealant that has let go
  • Cracked sealant along roofline trims
  • Wet patches on the wall under a gutter joint

Managing a site like Pangbourne Primary School? Then larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing.

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it
  • What product goes in the joint
  • The length of the guarantee
  • Who does the work, and how experienced they are

What happens if it’s left?

Leaving a leaking end cap can send water down the wall all winter. It’s a small job to put right before the damage spreads. Homes in smaller places like Pangbourne can face more weather, and failed outside joints let damp into walls. Inside, a split seal lets water into floors and panels just as it would anywhere.

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

What you get with us

What we can’t put right

New sealant cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant won’t put right:

  • Rotten or damaged fascia boards
  • Downpipes that are blocked or broken
  • Sagging gutters or broken brackets

If you’re not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer.

  • Soffit joints
  • Garage door frames

The process

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself normally takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run, depending on the amount of work. For a job in Pangbourne, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. First we trace the drip and check the gutter isn’t damaged.
  2. The old sealant and dirt are cleaned out of the joint.
  3. The joint is dried before sealing.
  4. We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters.
  5. The gutter is checked and debris around the joints cleared.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Can I do it myself?

It depends on the job. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.

How long should I leave it?

Cure times vary by product and the temperature. Before we leave, we’ll tell you the cure time.

Do I need to be at home?

It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.

Can sealant stop a sagging gutter leaking?

Outside joints around Pangbourne

With historic houses such as Basildon Park (about 1.9 miles north-west) nearby, there’s older building stock in the area around Pangbourne as well as newer homes. In older buildings, older brick and stone need a sealant that suits them, at the right joint depth. The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, though outdoor sealant still has to go onto a dry joint, so the forecast decides the day.

If you let a flat or house near Pangbourne station, a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside. Homes close to Church of St James the Less include some older properties, and older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant.

How we quote for gutter sealing

You will get a clear quote before any work starts. It’s based on:

  • The type of sealant required
  • How much there is to do
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Working hours on commercial sites

What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why we ask a few questions first and give you a clear quote before we start.

Asking for a quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • The type of property
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • If someone has resealed it before

Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Simply ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and describe the job.

Looking after it afterwards

After the cure time, these simple habits help:

  • Get leaks sealed before the wet months
  • Glance at the soffit joints now and then
  • Keep the gutters clear of debris
  • Check the gutters during heavy rain

A sagging gutter needs its brackets checked. If it drops, the joints will open.

Split sealant on fascias and trims lets water in behind. Resealing early protects the boards.
