North Marston Gutter Sealing
Gutter sealing across North Marston and nearby, with old sealant always removed completely.
- Water running down the wall below the gutter
- Failed sealant on a garage door frame
- End caps that drip every time it rains
How we handle gutter sealing in North Marston
Many dripping gutters are just a failed joint or end cap. We clean out the joint, dry it and reseal it with a sealant made for guttering. If the gutter is broken or sagging, we’ll tell you. We work on soffit joints, gutter end caps and gutter joints, and people most often call us about cracked sealant along roofline trims and damp patches inside below a leaking gutter.
Around North Marston, older buildings can be stone, brick or timber-framed, many with extensions added later. Where one material meets another is where water usually gets in, and they need the right sealant at the right depth.
Every job comes with a 12-month guarantee, wherever you are in Buckinghamshire.

Signs you need gutter sealing in North Marston
Stop ends take pressure from water running along the gutter. If the seal fails, water escapes at the end.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
- Drips from gutter joints and end caps
- Gaps along fascia and soffit joints
- Damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter
If you let a flat or house near Aylesbury Vale Parkway station, a gutter joint that drips onto the wall can turn into a damp complaint, so it’s worth checking.

Why deal with it now?
A dripping stop end can soak the wall right through the wet months. It’s a small job to put right compared with treating damp later. In a small place like North Marston, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You’ll know the price before we begin.

North Marston buildings and the weather
The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind. Historic houses like Claydon House (about 3.8 miles north-west) are a reminder that the area around North Marston has older buildings as well as new. Where a home is older, older brick and stone need a sealant that suits them, at the right joint depth.
Schools such as North Marston Church of England School are buildings too, and movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary, an extension built onto an older house moves differently, and the joint between them takes the strain.

How to look after the new joints
How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Check that water runs out of the downpipes
- Don’t lean ladders against the gutter itself
- Sort out a dripping joint early
- Check fascia and soffit joints for gaps
Look at fascia and trim joints when you are checking the gutters. A small split is quicker to put right.
The sooner a gutter leak is sealed, the less water reaches the wall. We’ll let you know if the gutter needs more than sealant.
How it works
Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we do not rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. Somewhere as small as North Marston, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
- Each joint is cleaned and any old sealant removed.
- We make sure everything is dry.
- The sealant is applied and finished.
- The joints are checked once sealed.
Getting ready for the visit

- Mention any tricky access

Advice
Can I do it myself?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
