- Drips from gutter joints and end caps
- Open joints in fascias and soffits
Looking after it afterwards
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:
- Get a dropping gutter looked at quickly
- Look at the gutters while it’s raining
- Look for streaks or damp on the wall below gutters
- Look along the fascias for open joints
While checking gutters, glance at the fascia joints too. Splits are easier to seal early.
Once roofline sealant splits, water can get behind it. Sealing it early keeps the boards behind dry.
About our gutter sealing in New Town
Sealant only bonds to a clean, dry joint. That is why we take out the old sealant and dirt first and the joint is dried before the new sealant goes in. We work on gutter joints, soffit joints and uPVC fascias, and common reasons people get in touch are cracked sealant along roofline trims and internal damp traced to a gutter joint.
Around New Town, older buildings can be stone, brick or timber-framed, many with extensions added later. The joints where those materials meet are the weak points.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right with it, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

How the visit works
Once we are on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. In a small place like New Town, access is generally the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
- We clean out each joint.
- We make sure everything is dry.
- The sealant is applied and finished.
- The joints are checked once sealed.
Preparing for the visit

New Town buildings and the weather
The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, but outside sealant still needs a dry, clean surface, so outdoor work is planned around the forecast. With historic houses such as Basildon Park (about 1.4 miles north) nearby, there’s older building stock in the area around New Town as well as newer homes. In older buildings, older brick and stone need a sealant that suits them, at the right joint depth.
If you let a flat or house near Pangbourne station, leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls. Homes close to St Stephen's Church include some older properties, and old and new materials meet at the roofline and walls, which is where sealant earns its keep. Managing a site like Basildon C.E. Primary School? Then larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing.

DIY sealant or a professional job?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly.
Why it’s worth doing now in New Town
New gutters cost far more than a few resealed joints. If the gutter is sound and the drip is a joint, resealing is the sensible fix. If it’s broken or sagging, a gutter installer needs to look. Around New Town, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

Common questions in New Town

Yes, we work for landlords and agents. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before work begins.
Will you come out to New Town?
Yes, New Town is covered. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Is it possible to stop a gutter joint dripping with sealant?

What sealant do you use?
Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice, and we’ll tell you what we are using.
How long before the joint can be used?
Many sealants skin over quickly but take longer to cure fully. We will give you the cure time for the product we used before we leave.
Do you guarantee gutter sealing?
Our 12-month guarantee applies to all our work.
How long will you be here?
As a guide, most jobs take an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. Larger jobs naturally take longer, and we will tell you how long to expect.
