Trusted gutter sealing in Iver

Different surfaces, different methods

uPVC fascias

Our work is the joints, not new fascias. Damaged boards need replacing by an installer.

Soffit joints

Open soffit joints let draughts in. We close them with a suitable sealant.

How we handle gutter sealing in Iver

Gaps along uPVC fascias and soffits look untidy and can let in water and draughts. We seal them in a colour to suit where possible. We are often asked to deal with end caps that drip every time it rains and old sealant on roofline trims that has split, across garage door frames, uPVC fascias and roofline trims.

Older homes in small places like Iver may be stone, brick or timber-framed, often with later extensions. The joints where those materials meet are the weak points.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

What we can’t put right

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Brackets that have snapped or loosened
  • Water backing up from a blocked pipe
  • Rotten or damaged fascia boards

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

What we seal

  • uPVC fascias
  • Soffit joints
  • Garage door frames
  • Gutter joints
  • Roofline trims
  • Gutter end caps

Can I do it myself?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Aftercare tips

Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:

  • Get leaks sealed before the wet months
  • Glance at the soffit joints now and then
  • Keep ladders off the guttering
  • Have sagging gutters refixed early

Make sure downpipes are not blocked so the gutter can drain. Blockages push water back along the gutter.

Split sealant on fascias and trims lets water in behind. Resealing early protects the boards.

Common questions in Iver

Is Iver in your area for gutter sealing?

Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Iver is part of that. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.

Will you come out to Iver?

Yes, Iver is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

How long before the joint can be used?

Most sealants are touch-dry well before they’re fully cured. We’ll give you the cure time for the product we used before we leave.

What sealant do you use?

Each joint gets the product that suits it. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice, and we’ll explain our choice.

Do you replace gutters or fascias?

We don’t replace gutters or fascias. If a gutter is broken or sagging, we will tell you so you can call the right trade.

Is it possible to stop a gutter joint dripping with sealant?

Yes, as long as the gutter itself is in good order. We clean and dry the joint before sealing so the sealant bonds.

Do you seal gaps in fascias and soffits?

Yes. We seal the joints, not replace the boards and we’ll let you know if a board has failed.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We’re fully insured, and we can confirm the details when we quote.

Outside joints around Iver

Compared with the north and west, the South East gets less rain, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind. With historic houses such as Ickenham Hall (about 4.1 miles north-east) nearby, there’s older building stock in the area around Iver as well as newer homes. In older buildings, older brick and stone need a sealant that suits them, at the right joint depth.

Homes close to Church of St Peter include some older properties, and older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant. For landlords with property near Iver station, leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls.

What happens if it’s left?

Sealing over a dirty, wet joint is a quick fix that rarely lasts, but it soon lets go. Proper preparation is the difference. Around Iver, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs. Ask us for a quote and we will explain what it covers.

Common problems we fix in Iver

Leaves and moss hold water in the gutter. Water that cannot drain works its way through a weak joint and drips through.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Drips from gutter joints and end caps
  • Failed sealant on a garage door frame
  • Fascia boards with gaps between them
  • Damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter

Schools such as Iver Village Infant School are buildings too, and its movement joints, gutters and trims need looking after like any other building’s.

What your quote should include

  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • Whether VAT is included
  • What the cure time is
  • Is the old sealant removed completely?

Our hiring checklist

How the visit works

On the day, we start by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. We protect the surfaces around the joints before any work begins. Most jobs take an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. Somewhere as small as Iver, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We start by tracing the leak and checking the gutter itself is sound.
  2. Old sealant and dirt are removed from the joint.
  3. We make sure the joint is dry before sealing.
  4. We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters and outdoor use.
  5. The run is checked and any debris near the joints is cleared.

How to prepare

  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
  • Clear the area around the work
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
