About our gutter sealing in Greosabhagh

Many dripping gutters are just a failed joint or end cap. The joint is cleaned, dried and resealed using a gutter sealant. If the gutter is broken or sagging, we’ll tell you. We work on roofline trims, soffit joints and gutter joints, and common reasons people get in touch are old gutter sealant that has let go and damp patches inside below a leaking gutter.

Across smaller places in Scotland, stone and harled cottages, farm buildings and newer houses often stand exposed to wind and rain. Gutter joints and wall joints take a battering.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

How to look after the new joints

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Deal with a drip before winter
  • Rest ladders on the wall, not the gutter
  • Glance at the soffit joints now and then
  • Keep the gutters clear of debris

Look at fascia and trim joints when you are checking the gutters. Splits are easier to seal early.

The sooner a gutter leak is sealed, the less water reaches the wall. If we find a bigger problem, we will tell you.

Different surfaces, different methods

uPVC fascias

Open fascia joints look untidy and can let water in. Sealing them closes the gap.

Soffit joints

Soffit board joints can separate over time. We seal them to close the gaps.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is.

Greosabhagh questions

Is gutter sealing in a coastal place like Greosabhagh any different?

Coastal weather is harder on outside sealant: there’s more wind-driven rain and, closer to the shore, salt in the air. The right product, a clean joint and the right depth all help it cope.

Can you do gutter sealing in Greosabhagh?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Greosabhagh is part of that. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.

Will there be a smell?

That depends on the sealant. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all, and any smell fades as they cure.

What sealant do you use?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We explain the product when we quote.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done and you will get one quote.

How do I get a quote for gutter sealing in Greosabhagh?

Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Ask us for a quote.

Is gutter cleaning part of the job?

We clear debris around the joints we are sealing. Full gutter cleaning is a separate job.

Will it make a mess?

No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.

For landlords and businesses

In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.

We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. Sealant work between tenants keeps a property looking cared for.

When it is not the sealant

Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. Sealant won’t put right:

  • Problems with the roof covering
  • Boards that have decayed or split
  • Downpipes that are blocked or broken

Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

How the visit works

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The work itself takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run from start to finish. In smaller Scottish places, parking is normally less of an issue than access and distance. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. We find where the water is coming from and check the gutter is sound.
  2. We remove the old sealant and clean the joint.
  3. We dry the joint so the new sealant can bond.
  4. We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters.
  5. We check the run and clear debris near the joints.

Before we arrive

  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

How we quote for gutter sealing

The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Whether the work is at height

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll go through it with you.

What to tell us for a quote

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Photos by email, if that is easy
  • The type of property
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height

Quotes start with a quick conversation. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we will talk you through what we’d do. Whenever you are ready, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Outside joints around Greosabhagh

Greosabhagh is close to the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. That’s hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. Harled (roughcast) walls are common in Scotland, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface.

Whether the job is in Greosabhagh itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish. In and around Greosabhagh, as anywhere, good gutter sealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.
