About our gutter sealing in East End

A lot of gutter leaks come down to one tired joint. We clean out the joint, dry it and reseal it with a sealant made for guttering. If the gutter itself has failed, we say so. Common call-outs are for end caps that drip every time it rains and old sealant on roofline trims that has split, across garage door frames, gutter joints and soffit joints.

Older homes in small places like East End may be stone, brick or timber-framed, often with later extensions. The joints where those materials meet are the weak points, and they need the right sealant at the right depth.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

Different surfaces, different methods

Gutter end caps

Drips from a stop end run down the brickwork. It’s a quick reseal.

Soffit joints

Soffit joints are sealed in a colour to suit, where one is available.

Your questions about gutter sealing in East End

Does living near the coast affect gutter sealing in East End?

Coastal weather is harder on outside sealant: there’s more wind-driven rain and, closer to the shore, salt in the air. Choosing the right sealant for the frame and wall, laid at the right depth, helps it last.

Is East End within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Will sealing fix a sagging gutter?

Sealing a sagging joint won’t last. A gutter installer needs to refix it.

Do you clean gutters?

We clear debris near the joints because the joint must be clean. Cleaning the whole run is a separate job.

Can you seal fascia and soffit joints?

Yes. We seal the joints, not replace the boards, and if a board is damaged, we will tell you.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint before applying anything new.

What do you need from me for a quote?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. If you can, email a few pictures.

What sealant do you use?

Each joint gets the product that suits it. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we’ll explain our choice.

Should I try it myself first?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

When to call us in East End

Overflowing gutters can look like leaking joints. A blocked downpipe makes water back up, which is why we look before we seal.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Old sealant on roofline trims that has split
  • Rain getting in around a garage door
  • Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
  • Old gutter sealant that has let go

For landlords with property near Lymington Pier station, a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside.

Questions to ask before booking

  • How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
  • How long the guarantee is
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • Who turns up on the day

How the visit works

Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we don’t rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. For a village or hamlet like East End, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
  2. We clean out each joint.
  3. The joints are dried.
  4. The sealant is applied and finished.
  5. We check our work before we leave.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules

What sealant work cannot fix

Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we will tell you before we start. It won’t solve:

  • Cracked, split or warped gutter sections
  • Brackets that have snapped or loosened
  • Boards that have decayed or split

If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

What gutter sealing looks like in East End

East End is within about 1 mile of the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. Both are hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, which can dry out and crack sooner where a building faces the weather. London and the South East are among the drier parts of the UK, though outdoor sealant still has to go onto a dry joint, so the forecast decides the day.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as South Baddesley Church of England Primary School, larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary, old and new materials meet at the roofline and walls, which is where sealant earns its keep.

East End is about 3 miles north-east of Lymington, in Hampshire. Across the SO41 area, we cover gutter sealing for homes and businesses. Across Hampshire, we cover 683 places, and East End is one of them. We also work in Southampton, about 11 miles from East End.

All of SO41 is covered for gutter sealing, from the main roads to the quietest streets. That includes homes and businesses on Rowes Lane, Norleywood Road and Lymington Road and the roads around them. Neighbouring places we cover for gutter sealing include Norleywood (1 mile north-west), Thorns Beach (2 miles east), Hamstead (4 miles south-east), Cranmore (5 miles south) and Bouldnor (5 miles south). Within a short drive, we also cover Gosport (15 miles east), Eastleigh (15 miles north-east), Fareham (14 miles north-east), Totton (10 miles north), Chandler's Ford (15 miles north) and Hedge End (13 miles north-east).

Why it’s worth doing now in East End

New gutters cost far more than a few resealed joints. Where the gutter is in good order and only a joint leaks a reseal is all it needs. If it has failed, we will tell you. In a small place like East End, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we will go through it with you.
