Gutter sealing in Cliasmol, done properly
Many dripping gutters are just a failed joint or end cap. We clean out the joint, dry it and reseal it using a gutter sealant. If the gutter itself has failed, we say so. If you have dripping gutter ends and internal damp traced to a gutter joint, we can put it right.
Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Cliasmol depends on the weather, and longer journeys are planned in advance. Let us know about access to every wall and roofline.
A 12-month guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once the job is done.

How it works
We keep the work tidy and contained to the area we are working on, so you can carry on as normal. Expect the work to take anything from an hour or two to a few hours. In smaller Scottish places, parking is generally less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.
- First we agree which joints need sealing.
- We clean out each joint.
- The joints are dried.
- We apply exterior or gutter sealant and finish it neatly.
- We check our work before we leave.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Move anything stored near the joints
How to get a quote
Call for a quick quote, or send an email if you’d rather. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will talk you through the work before giving you a price.

Why act early in Cliasmol
You don’t need to replace a garage door because rain gets in round the frame. Resealing the frame joint is often enough, if the frame itself is sound. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

DIY versus a professional finish
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
What the job involves on each surface
Gutter end caps
Stop ends hold back water at the end of a run. When their seal fails, they drip.
Gutter joints
When a joint drips, the gutter is often still sound. Resealing is generally enough.
What we are called out for in Cliasmol
Water spilling over a blocked gutter is often mistaken for a leak. If the downpipe is blocked, water has nowhere to go so we check the cause first.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Drips from gutter joints and end caps
- Wet patches on the wall under a gutter joint
- Earlier gutter repairs that have peeled off
- Trim joints where the sealant has failed
In and around Cliasmol, as anywhere, good gutter sealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.
Questions to ask before booking

Cliasmol: your questions answered
Does living near the coast affect gutter sealing in Cliasmol?
Coastal homes put outside sealant through more weather than inland ones, so preparation and the right sealant matter all the more. Walls facing the sea are normally the first to need attention.
Will you come out to Cliasmol?
Yes, Cliasmol is covered. We work across all of Scotland, islands included, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do. Working times can be discussed when we quote.
Do I have to be there?
We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that usually means someone at home.
Is sealing fascia joints something you do?
Yes. We seal open joints along fascias and soffits in a matching colour.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No. Fresh sealant does not stick to old sealant, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. It all has to come out first.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes, and it often makes sense. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
Should I try DIY first?
Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
What gutter sealing looks like in Cliasmol
Cliasmol is within about 1 mile of the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. That’s hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. The west of Scotland is wetter than the east, so there’s plenty of rain for gutter, fascia and roofline joints to keep out.
Whether the job is in Cliasmol itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.
