Gutter sealing in Carnock, done properly
Failed sealant round a garage door frame lets rain blow in. We cut out the old sealant and reseal the frame with an exterior sealant. We work on uPVC fascias, garage door frames and gutter joints, and people most often call us about quick sealant fixes on gutters that didn’t last and trim joints where the sealant has failed.
External sealant needs dry surfaces, so outdoor work around Carnock is planned around the weather, and longer journeys are planned in advance. Let us know about access to every wall and roofline.
We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

Landlord and commercial work in Carnock
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance.

Questions from Carnock
Will you come out to Carnock?
Yes, we do. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Does living near the coast affect gutter sealing in Carnock?
Near the coast, wind-driven rain and, nearer the shore, salt air make outside sealant work harder. Choosing the right sealant for the frame and wall, laid at the right depth, helps it last.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
Do the sealants smell?
Some sealants have a smell while they cure. Ventilation helps.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Only a few details: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. Then drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Do you work for letting agents?
Yes. We work in homes, commercial premises and hotels, and we’re fully insured.
Where are you based?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. We cover Carnock and the rest of Fife, along with the rest of our area.
Can I do it myself?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
What happens if it’s left?
Leaving a leaking end cap can send water down the wall all winter. Resealing it is a quick job before the damage spreads. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are unsure, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

What gutter sealing looks like in Carnock
Carnock is within about 3 miles of the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. That’s hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. With historic houses such as Pittencrieff House (about 3 miles east) nearby, there’s older building stock in the area around Carnock as well as newer homes. In older buildings, older brick and stone need a sealant that suits them, at the right joint depth.
Homes close to Parish Church include some older properties, and older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant. If you let a flat or house near Dunfermline City station, leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls.
Carnock is about 4 miles west of Dunfermline, in Fife. If you need gutter sealing in Carnock, it’s easy to get a quote: please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk. What we do, step by step
A visit follows a simple pattern: we look at the joints together, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, carry out the job and clear up. Most jobs take an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. Outdoor work around Carnock depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.
- First we agree which joints need sealing.
- We clean out each joint.
- The joints are dried.
- We apply exterior or gutter sealant and finish it neatly.
- The joints are checked once sealed.
How to prepare
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Clear the area around the work
- Keep children and pets away from the work area

Related advice
DIY sealant or a professional job?
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, then guaranteed for a year.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
Aftercare tips
Good habits help new joints last longer. A few tips:
- Look for streaks or damp on the wall below gutters
- Make sure downpipes are not blocked
- Don’t lean ladders against the gutter itself
- Watch for drips in a downpour
Clear the gutters once or twice a year, so water drains away past the joints. Water left in a gutter tests every joint.
The sooner a gutter leak is sealed, the less water reaches the wall. We will let you know if the gutter needs more than sealant.
What affects the quote in Carnock
You’ll get a clear quote before work begins. It takes into account:
- Working hours on commercial sites
- The product the joint needs
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- How easy the joints are to reach
Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.
What we need to know
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- Whether it has been sealed before
For a quote, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.
