Gutter sealing in Bridge of Alford, done properly
A lot of gutter leaks come down to one tired joint. We clean out the joint, dry it and reseal it using a gutter sealant. If the gutter is broken or sagging, we’ll tell you. If you have internal damp traced to a gutter joint and leaking gutter joints and stop ends, we can help, whatever the surface.
Across smaller places in Scotland, stone and harled cottages, farm buildings and newer houses often stand exposed to wind and rain. Outside joints on exposed walls work hard.
A 12-month guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Quotes for gutter sealing in Bridge of Alford
Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- Which sealant suits the joint
- How easy the joints are to reach
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

How the job changes by surface
Soffit joints
Gaps at soffit joints can let in draughts and insects. We close them with a suitable sealant.
uPVC fascias
Open fascia joints look untidy and can let water in. A neat bead closes them up.
Can I do it myself?
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
What sealant work cannot fix
Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- Leaks from the roof rather than a joint
- Brackets that have snapped or loosened
- Downpipes that are blocked or broken
If in doubt, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think before you book.

Aftercare tips
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Watch for drips in a downpour
- Sort out a dripping joint early
- Don’t leave a sagging gutter
- Keep downpipes clear
Check the joints after heavy rain now and then. It’s the easiest time to see a leak.
A drip from a gutter joint will not stop on its own. The same spot gets soaked every time it rains and that can cause damp inside.
Bridge of Alford questions
Is there a guarantee on gutter sealing in Bridge of Alford?
Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Is Bridge of Alford in your area for gutter sealing?
Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Bridge of Alford is part of that. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we’ll send you a clear quote.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we are part of it.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before resealing.
Can a leaking gutter joint be sealed?
In many cases, yes. Cleaning, drying and resealing the joint usually works. If the section is split or warped, it needs replacing.
Do you install new fascias or gutters?
Replacement isn’t our trade. If a gutter is broken or sagging, we will tell you.
Can landlords and businesses book you?
Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, businesses and hotels.
What should I tell you?
The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.
Bridge of Alford buildings and the weather
Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and sound outside sealant is part of that. Plenty of Scottish homes have harled walls, and joints where harling meets other materials need a sealant that can grip and flex.
In the older streets around Tullynessle and Forbes Parish Church, older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant.
