About our glazing silicone in Stocker's Head
Glazing silicone is a maintenance item. Sun, rain and movement wear it down and cracked joints let water in. Resealing puts that right. We work on glass balustrade bases, glass-to-frame joints and glass-to-glass joints, and common reasons people get in touch are water escaping where a screen meets the wall and mouldy sealant around glass panels.
Around Stocker's Head, many homes face open ground, so their windows and doors take the full weather. Exposed frames and sills lose their mastic sooner than sheltered ones.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right with it in that time, tell us and we’ll put it right.

How we quote for glazing silicone
Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- How easy the joints are to reach
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- When we can work, for business premises
- The type of sealant required
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.
Helping us quote
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- How we’d reach the joints
- Roughly how big the job is
- If someone has resealed it before
For a quote, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. We’ll send you a clear quote before any work starts.
How to look after the new joints
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Don’t use a blade near the sealant
- Look over the glazing joints once a year
- Act on drips or damp patches early
- Keep harsh solvents off the silicone
Don’t use blades or scrapers near the bead when you clean. A soft cloth or sponge is best.
Conservatory leaks rarely stay small. Water travels along the frame and into the wall, so get it looked at when you first see it.
Different surfaces, different methods
Rooflights
Water around a rooflight isn’t always the sealant. We find the cause first.
Glass balustrade bases
Outdoor balustrade joints face the weather. Renewing the sealant keeps water out of the channel.
Questions from Stocker's Head
Do you work for landlords with property near Charing station?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Do you cover smaller places like Stocker's Head?
Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Can you replace a misted double-glazed unit?
No. We renew the sealant. A glazier replaces glass and units.
Is there any odour?
Possibly a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
Do I need to be at home?
For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you do not need to watch us work.
How much does glazing silicone cost in Stocker's Head?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. We agree the price before any work begins.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises. We can talk about working times when we quote.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status and we are fully insured too.
Signs you need glazing silicone in Stocker's Head
Silicone won’t bond to a dirty surface. If the glass and frame weren’t cleaned properly, the bead can peel away early.
The problems people generally mention when they call are:
- Shower screens leaking along the wall or tray
- Silicone pulling away from the glass
- Sealant that was laid over old silicone and failed
- Mouldy sealant around glass panels
If you let a flat or house near Charing station, glazing joints are worth checking at the end of a tenancy, before a small leak grows.
Questions to ask before you book
- Who does the work, and how experienced they are
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
- What product goes in the joint
- Are they insured?
Why act early in Stocker's Head
Dealing with a leaking shower screen early protects the floor and ceiling. A small leak can reach the floor below before it shows. In a small place like Stocker's Head, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Combining jobs into one visit is usually more efficient than separate visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. We will send you a clear quote for the lot.

What happens on the day
Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. For most jobs that takes a few hours, depending on how many joints need doing. In a small place like Stocker's Head, access is generally the main thing to plan. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- We look at the glazing and agree which joints need resealing.
- We cut away the failed silicone.
- The surfaces are cleaned with a suitable solvent.
- New glazing silicone goes in and is finished neatly.
- The joints are checked before we leave.
Before we arrive
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

Should I try it myself first?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Frames and glazing around Stocker's Head
Historic houses like Belmont House and Gardens (about 3.9 miles north) are a reminder that the area around Stocker's Head has older buildings as well as new. Where a home is older, older timber frames in brick or stone need a different approach from a modern uPVC window. The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, though outdoor sealant still has to go onto a dry joint, so the forecast decides the day.
For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Peter and St Paul, frames set in older brick or stone need a sealant that suits the wall as well as the frame. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Charing Church of England Primary School, the mastic around its windows and doors needs looking after like any other building’s.
