How the visit works
When we arrive, we look over the joints with you first, so there are no surprises. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work begins. The work usually takes a few hours for most jobs. Somewhere as small as Rush Green, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- First we agree the joints to be done.
- We cut away the failed silicone.
- The surfaces are cleaned with a suitable solvent.
- We apply and tool the new silicone.
- We inspect the work and test it where we can.
Before we arrive
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Aftercare tips
How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:
- Keep scrapers and blades away from the silicone
- Keep harsh solvents off the silicone
- Squeegee the shower screen after each use
- Act on drips or damp patches early
Do not use blades or scrapers near the bead when cleaning the glass. A soft cloth or sponge is best.
A small conservatory leak soon spreads. Water travels along the frame and into the wall so it’s best dealt with straight away.
What glazing silicone looks like in Rush Green
Rainfall in the South East is lower than in much of the UK, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind. Historic houses like Ickenham Hall (about 3.2 miles east) are a reminder that the area around Rush Green has older buildings as well as new. Where a home is older, older timber frames in brick or stone need a different approach from a modern uPVC window.
Homes close to St Francis include some older properties, and frames set in older brick or stone need a sealant that suits the wall as well as the frame. For landlords with property near Denham Golf Club station, a shower screen or conservatory joint that leaks is easier to reseal while the property is empty. Schools such as Denham Village School are buildings too, and the mastic around its windows and doors needs looking after like any other building’s.

DIY versus a professional finish
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

What affects the quote in Rush Green
We don’t publish a price list. What we look at:
- How many areas need sealing
- How easy the joints are to reach
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- The amount of work
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Ask us for a quote and we will go through it with you.
Helping us quote
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:
- How we’d reach the joints
- Whether it has been sealed before
- The type of property
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details and send pictures if you have them.
