The process
Every visit runs the same way: we check the joints, protect the area around them, carry out the job and tidy away. Most jobs take anything from an hour or two to most of a day, depending on the size of the job. Parking around America Ground is generally easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. For outside work, side access and the height of the joints help us plan.
- We look at the glazing and agree which joints need resealing.
- Old sealant is removed from the glass and frame.
- The surfaces are cleaned with a suitable solvent.
- We apply and tool the new silicone.
- The joints are checked before we leave.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Move anything stored near the joints

Advice
About our glazing silicone in America Ground
Glass replacement isn’t something we do, and misting between panes means a failed sealed unit. What we do is the silicone around the glass and that’s often where the water gets in. Common call-outs are for leaks where conservatory glass meets the frame and rooflight joints letting water in, across conservatory frames, glass balustrade bases and glass-to-frame joints.
In smaller places like America Ground, homes range from older cottages to newer houses, with windows to match: timber, uPVC and aluminium. Each frame material needs the right sealant against the right wall.
Our work is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

Quotes for glazing silicone in America Ground
We do not publish a price list, because no two jobs are the same. What we look at:
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- The size of the job
- When we can work, for business premises
- Mould in or behind the old joints
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
What we need to know
When you call or email, these details help:
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- What’s wrong with the joints now
The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and email photos if that is easy.
America Ground: your questions answered
Will you come out to America Ground?
Yes, America Ground is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Does living near the coast affect glazing silicone in America Ground?
Near the coast, wind-driven rain and, nearer the shore, salt air make outside sealant work harder. Choosing the right sealant for the frame and wall, laid at the right depth, helps it last.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
Can I choose the sealant colour?
We will suggest a colour to suit the surroundings, from white and clear to greys and other shades. The product needed can limit the range.
Is it worth trying it myself?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.
Where are you based?
We’re a Crawley-based firm. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.
Do you fit new glass or sealed units?
No, our work is the silicone. Glass and sealed units need a glazier.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
Different surfaces, different methods
Conservatory frames
The joints where the conservatory meets the house take a lot of movement. We reseal them with a sealant suited to the frame.
Glass-to-glass joints
Silicone joins glass panels in many frameless designs. We reseal with a suitable glazing silicone.
What glazing silicone looks like in America Ground
America Ground is close to the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. That’s hard on glazing joints and frame seals, especially on the side facing the sea. The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.
Managing a site like University School? Then larger buildings have plenty of frames, and the mastic around each one ages. For an older house near a landmark such as Holy Trinity Church, the windows may be timber, sash or later replacements, and each needs the right sealant against the wall.

When to call us in America Ground
New silicone over old silicone won’t bond. Plenty of leaks come from a quick top-up over the old bead leaving a path for water.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Split or lifting silicone on glass
- Rooflight joints letting water in
- Leaks where conservatory glass meets the frame
- Mouldy sealant around glass panels
Rented homes near Hastings station change hands often, and leaking glazing joints, shower screens or conservatory seals are worth sorting between tenancies.
Questions to ask before booking
- What product goes in the joint
- The length of the guarantee
- Who does the work, and how experienced they are
- Is VAT in the price?
Honest limits
To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:
- A roof that has moved or dropped
- Cracked or broken glass
- Misting between the panes of a double-glazed unit (a failed unit for a glazier)
If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll say what we think.
