Floor joint sealing in Windsor

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again.

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Floor joint sealing in Windsor, done properly

Thresholds are where two floors, or a floor and a door, meet. We use a flexible product that suits both floors. We work on skirting boards, wet room & bathroom floors and tiled floors, and people most often call us about gaps opening between the floor and skirting and failed joint filler in concrete floors.

Small business units and shops in a town like Windsor have floors that take heavy wear. Threshold and floor joints are best resealed before their edges start breaking away.

Our work is backed for twelve months.

What affects the cost of floor joint sealing

Your quote is based on your job. We look at:

  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • The size of the job

What it costs depends on the amount of work, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. We give a clear quote before work begins.

What we need to know

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:

  • Photos by email, if that is easy
  • The type of property
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • How we’d reach the joints

A good description makes for an accurate quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints.

Why act early in Windsor

Left open, concrete joints break down under traffic. Resealing it early protects the edges before they need a bigger repair. Gaps in sealant and mould in the bead never get better on their own, and in a busy household in Windsor they spread with every shower and every downpour. Now is the easy time to put it right.

Combining jobs into one visit generally makes better use of the time than several visits. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.

Why us?

  • Colour agreed with you before we start
  • An ARBOMaster approved applicator
  • Full insurance on every job
  • Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over

What we can’t put right

Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we’ll tell you before work begins. It will not solve:

  • Damaged concrete that needs breaking out and repairing
  • Failed waterproofing under a wet room floor
  • Loose, hollow or cracked tiles, which need a tiler

If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we seal

  • Concrete floor joints
  • Skirting boards
  • Wet room & bathroom floors
  • Tiled floors
  • Thresholds
  • Commercial floors

What we do, step by step

Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. For most jobs that takes a morning or an afternoon for most homes and we leave things clean and tidy. For a job in Windsor, we need access to where the work is and somewhere nearby to park. If the job is outside, mention gates, side access and anything above ground floor.

  1. We start by checking the floor, the joint and what traffic it takes.
  2. We remove what’s in the joint now.
  3. We vacuum out the joint and add backing where the depth needs setting.
  4. The chosen sealant goes in, coloured to suit the floor.
  5. We tool it neatly and tell you when it can be walked on and cleaned.

Getting ready for the visit

  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
  • Move anything stored near the joints

Do you need floor joint sealing in Windsor?

New floors settle once they’re in use. Gaps at the edges appear in the first year or so.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Open joints that fill with dirt
  • Open joints around bathroom floor edges
  • Grout cracking in a straight line across a floor
  • Chipped and open joints in warehouse floors

If you look after a church, hall or community building such as All Saints Church, floor and skirting joints in halls and kitchens wear like any others.

What to look for in a quote

  • How much experience the applicator has
  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • How hidden problems are handled

Windsor questions

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Windsor & Eton Central station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can be quoted together. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.

Is floor joint sealing in Windsor guaranteed?

All our work, in Windsor and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Does someone need to be in?

That depends on where the joints are. Inside work needs someone to give us access.

Do you use a paintable sealant?

For painted skirting, we use a flexible product that can be painted. Silicone won’t take paint, so we use it where the joint stays unpainted.

Do you offer different sealant colours?

We help you choose a colour that suits, from white and clear to greys and other shades. The choice depends on the product the joint needs.

Can you reseal concrete floor joints in an industrial unit?

Yes. We reseal concrete floor joints in commercial and industrial units. The product is chosen for the traffic the floor takes.

How long does the job take?

It depends on the size of the job, but most jobs take a few hours, depending on the length of joint. We will give you a better idea when we quote.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured, with over 20 years’ experience in sealant work.
