Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Timsgarry

Homes in Timsgarry have the same weak spots as anywhere else: bath edges, tray joints, basin backs and kitchen upstands. Each one is stripped, cleaned and dried before new silicone goes in. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, wet rooms and baths, and common reasons people get in touch are failed sealant on the screen profile and shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop.

Being further from a city doesn’t change the work: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.

You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What we do, step by step

Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we don’t rush it. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. In total, it usually takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. For a place like Timsgarry, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.

  1. First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  3. The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
  4. A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
  5. We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Timsgarry

You will get a clear quote before work begins. It’s based on:

  • How many areas need sealing
  • Whether the work is at height
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Which sealant suits the joint

The cost depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts.

Asking for a quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • If someone has resealed it before
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking

A good description makes for an accurate quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and add pictures by email if you can.

Why act early in Timsgarry

Fresh sealant smartens a bathroom or kitchen with very little disruption, which helps when a home is being let or put on the market. A smeared, uneven DIY bead does the opposite. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

We don’t show prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will talk you through it.

When something else is needed

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)

If in doubt, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll say what we think.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Timsgarry

Timsgarry is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out.

In the older streets around Uig Parish Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

Timsgarry: your questions answered

Is Timsgarry within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, including the islands, where work is planned around ferry crossings. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Is Timsgarry in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Timsgarry is part of that. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.

Can I choose the colour of the sealant?

White, clear and a range of colours are available. Where the joint is on show, we match it to the surface.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint before applying anything new.

What do you need from me for a quote?

A short description and the location, with pictures by email if possible. We will ask anything else we need to know.

How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?

Around 24 hours is typical, and we confirm the time for the product used. Using it sooner can damage the bead.

Can new silicone go straight over the old?

No, never. Sealing over the top looks fine for a few weeks, then lifts. We remove the old bead completely before resealing.

Are you insured?

Yes. We’re fully insured, with over 20 years’ experience in sealant work.

How to look after the new joints

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Move toiletries away from the joint
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use

Mould needs damp, so keep the room aired. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the bead dries out between uses.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Splashes run behind the back edge and soak into the worktop, where it can make the board swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

What we are called out for in Timsgarry

Silicone needs a clean, dry surface without any grease to stick to. Soap residue, oils and leftover silicone film all get in the way, so a rushed job can start to lift early.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Failed sealant on the screen profile
  • A joint torn by a bath that flexes
  • Black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off
  • Leaks into the floor or ceiling below

Around Timsgarry, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.
