About our bathroom resealing in The Frenches
Before a bath is sealed, it’s filled with water. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the bead isn’t stretched the first time someone gets in. It’s a small step that rushed reseals tend to skip. We work on sinks & splashbacks, baths and basins & vanity units, and people most often call us about splits where the tray meets the wall and a reseal done over the top of the old bead.
Being in a small place like The Frenches makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.
Big or small, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee in The Frenches and across Hampshire.

Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

What we do, step by step
Every visit runs the same way: we look at the joints together, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, do the work and tidy away. Most jobs take a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. Somewhere like The Frenches needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant, including the film left on the tiles.
- Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
- The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, generally after around 24 hours.
Before we arrive
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Mention any parking rules near the property
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Advice
What affects the quote in The Frenches
Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- The number of rooms or windows
- Access and height
- The size of the job
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You will know the price before we begin.
Asking for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- The rough size of the job
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- If someone has resealed it before
We quote each job on its own, so start by telling us what you need. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details and send photos if you have them.
When something else is needed
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
- A tray or bath that is cracked through
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll say what we think.

Bathrooms and kitchens in The Frenches
Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
Letting a property close to Mottisfont & Dunbridge station? Then a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. Homes close to Church of All Saints include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
The Frenches is about 3 miles west of Romsey, in Hampshire. Our applicators cover bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in The Frenches and the surrounding area, as part of our work across Hampshire. Within a short drive, we also cover Winchester (11 miles east), Eastleigh (10 miles east), Andover (15 miles north), Totton (6 miles south-east), Chandler's Ford (8 miles east) and Hedge End (13 miles south-east).
Near you in The Frenches
The Frenches’s nearest station is Mottisfont & Dunbridge station, roughly 2.5 miles north of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include King Johns House (2.7 miles east) and Romsey Community Hospital (3.4 miles east). The countryside around The Frenches includes Copythorne Common.
Looking after it afterwards
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Give the silicone its full cure time
- Run the extractor fan during and after every shower
- Do not let bottles sit on the bead
- Don’t leave water standing on kitchen joints
Do not stand bottles along the bead, as they hold water against it. A quick squeegee after showering keeps water from sitting on the joint.
A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.
Different surfaces, different methods
Basins & vanity units
On a basin, neatness shows: the bead is right in front of you, so it’s tooled cleanly and evenly, in white, clear or a colour to suit.
Wet rooms
A wet room floor and its walls can move independently, so the corners need a flexible seal, not grout. Where grout in a corner has cracked, we can replace it with sealant.
Why deal with it now?
A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it can’t stick to what’s underneath. Water creeps under it and mould follows, so the next person has twice as much to remove. In a small place like The Frenches, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference.
